Had To Change Plans

My daughter and I had planned to go to Myrtle Beach yesterday to enjoy several days of R & R and lots of good seafood. But my daughter woke up not feeling well and said she didn't feel like driving that far. I don't drive any more so the only thing to do was to cancel our pans.

I thought I'd be smart and back down the driveway to pick up the morning newspaper and mail. Some how when I was getting in the car. I tripped and fell on the driveway. We're on a dead end street so there is not much traffic. I couldn't get up and my calls for help did not reach any human years for about 30 minutes. My daughter could not hear me but a neighbor four houses gown the street did and came to my aid. Called EMS and they picked me up and checked me out. I'm bruised, have abrasions and sore, particularly my knees and elbows. The family presented me with a new walker last Monday.

So, we're sitting here in Clemson pretending we're at Myrtle Beach. The only thing missing is a can of sardines.

Sorry about the fall, and I am glad the injuries were not worse. It's a blessing your neighbor came to your aid and that you weren't lying there for hours. I hope you can reschedule your trip to Myrtle before too long. Heal up, stay well, and try to keep your spirits up.

Years ago my grandmother went to her mail box with her dog. She fell and broke her hip. She was lying on the ground holding her dogs leash for 10 minutes. A truck driver stopped to help but her dog would not let the driver near my grandmother. They called a family friend who lived close and the EMS. The friend took her dog into the house while my grandmother went to the hospital.
