Group chat bro code

Soooo... we have a large dudes group chat for the neighborhood. Everyone's wives, however, not all buddies. A few of the guys in there are single. Well, there's also a newly separated woman in the hood (husband is not in the group chat) who is good friends with these wives. She's already put herself out there on dating apps. Whatever, don't care. Not my business and I'm not worried about it. One of the single guys finds it and posts the profile to the group chat a few days ago. A few dudes make a few snide comments but it dies just as fast as it came up. No pigs.
Well, last night, out at the weekly cornhole tourney at our favorite watering hole, this woman is there. She has a few and decides to confront some of the dudes about our group chat, including me, and really makes it an awkward encounter. She also apparently thinks someone is going to use that information against her (well, don't be puttin' yaself out there...)
So we know what's up now: Someone leaked info to a wife.
We had our suspects and tried to figure out who did it while at the garage bar. We make it known to the rest of the group chat that someone is leaking.
This morning, one of the guys decides to make it an issue again and his words are pretty strong about it. I agree with him. Finally, a guy confesses, apologizes, and says he meant no harm but that he was hoping his wife would have a heart-to-heart with her good friend about already being on the dating sites before the divorce was final.
So, I take this to the court of Lunge bro opinion:
1. Boot him from the chat because he is a liability now to everyone in there. 2. Forgive him since he came clean, apologized, and hope he learned his lesson. 3. Get over all of it; it's not a big deal. 4. Cleanse the chat and start over with trusted individuals.
As you can imagine, contents of our dudes group chat are not well suited for the public eye.

It's a dudes chat. If it's not water under the bridge then it's really a chick chat. Plus that sounds like excellent content coming out of the chat. In a week this'll be even funnier. Fuckthe wives feelings. In my experience, they'll stop asking about the boys chat once their feelings are hurt a few times

fun of posting dumb #### is the always-present possibility that it will get leaked to people you didn't intend it for. 3. Did this bro do anything that none of the rest of you wouldn't? I mean REALLY none of the rest of the wives heard about it? If not he doesn't deserve punishment. Circle the bro wagons. 4. Group chats are terrible.

Not sure about how bro code chats work but I dont why an almost single gal putting out dating profiles is particularly scandalous. I've known a lot of people who went through the divorce process and none of them refused to date prior to the divorce being final. Now I'm in NC where you have to be separated for a year before you can get it finalized which is a long time to not date. Maybe its different in states without that requirement.
Bro code wise I'd say it isn't a banishment offense or anything but does seem like the guys a bit of a busy body inserting himself into the dating life of somebody like that.

Context here is important. If shes on tinder or aff or something like that then I agree its a bad look even if its nobody else's business. However if she's on match or some other more dating (as opposed to hooking up) oriented site then I dont think it's a big deal at all. A significant number of couples meet online these days as weird as that may sound to people of our generation.

Dudes have inner circles and outer circles. A large text thread is an outer circle, and everybody on it should recognize that even with a bunch of vag-free humans, somebody is going to let sensitive info slip to a significant other at some point. Want to share a dating profile of said newly single-and-ready-to-mingle lady that we deserve pics of? Send it to 3 or 4 inner circle buddies, not to a crowd of 15 or 20 or however many are on the bigger thread.

So, tell the guy y'all forgive him and to smarten up. Hit him in the nuts with something.
Keep the current chat population the same. Make a different one with the trusted people. Let the one slowly die without letting the #### up know what is going on. One will slowly die, blame it on folks being busy.

isn't some type of place anyone should expect total privacy.
Seems to be a normal thing I'd think married couples would talk about in that type of social circle. Not a big deal, and dude even fessed up. Just move on.
As for her being single, context would help with determining how scandelous this is. She step out on him now trying to ho herself out on Tinder after being separated for 3 days? Or a mutual decision to get divorced with no immoral causes, been separated for quite some time, and she's trying to navigate dating and is on one of the non-Tinder sites? Or recently separated trying to work on the marriage and this activity will be the deal breaker?
I don't think the fact that she is separated in and of itself is enough to crucify her here.
From experience I can tell you that unfortunately this type of stuff becomes all the rage for discussion among married folks in hoods. Is what it is.

Otherwise if you guys are getting this worked up over it, maybe you should rename your group chat to "Estrogen Alley."
Maybe this is just us, but while my wife and I don't regularly go snooping, we generally have an "open phone" policy where there's nothing that would be off-limits if my wife really wanted to see it. So in that regard, a "men's chat" wouldn't be sacrosanct. Would I be considered a leak?
For example, I don't go sharing everything I post on here, but if my wife wanted to see it, I'd let her and take the fallout where it may come.
Seems the bigger issue is not the chat, but the fact that a) your buddy felt the need to have an intervention with the single lady, b) your buddy needs to set better boundaries with his wife if he's going to share information with her, or c) your buddy's wife needs to realize she's not meant to fix everybody.

I don't get that. Its a terrible idea. She's gonna find something, that I'm certain is pretty innocuous, that will offend her. I'm also certain if he's rooting through her phone, he'll see the same at some point.
I don't want to see my wife's phone. There's nothing on there that involves me. In the worst case, If she's efffing around, finding out about it by rooting through her phone is just the early flight home. I'm gonna find out about it eventually regardless. And I don't have to be so insecure and worrying about it until I do.
Kinda like taking a dump, or cranking one out, some things should just be private. Does she REALLY need to see everything? Why?

If you feel the need to do it, you're already in the mindset to find something that's going to offend you. But that's not the same getting real flustered if you wife needed to borrow your phone for something.

if I feel like I want to go through my husband's phone, that's the problem. If we gotta do that then why are we married?
Married for 18 years and never once looked at his phone or even thought about it. The only reason we track each other's iphone is because it's easier than texting where you at or have you left the grocery store yet?
Being by yourself has got to be better than being unhappily married.

look at the messages, emails, etc. No reason to imo. Of course we are going on 39 years now. LOL.
We do use the tracking for the reasons you said. Especially if she is driving from Gvl to the beach by herself, I check on her progress.

We spill good tea with cell phones on airplane mode, don't put the tea in the group chat with an electronic record...You need plausible deniability.
But also, that dude sounds whooped. That's some sacred marital gossip there... I would NOT be sharing with my spouse if they did me dirty like that.
Also a reminder why I don't get involved enough with my neighbors enough anymore to have a group chat. Used to be best friends with a neighbor and did everything together but she blew up her marriage and our friendship.
Tighten up that circle.

for a man too.
Most sane women I know would not be dating in the middle of a divorce. I hear most women saying that if something went bad or happened to their spouse they'd rather die alone than have to go through dating especially see what's going on those dating apps.

I'm definitely not a big fan of this woman's actions because she has shown she lacks personal accountability in a lot of situations (won't go into it), but I also realize I don't know the details of her family life and what's happening so I stay out of it. I say it's not my business and I'm not going to concern myself with what she's doing online.
BUT... that's partly why I was so irritated she publicly confronted me about the group chat last night. Like, woman, I'm not even commenting on your stuff. I don't care who you're hooking up with.

the market dating, etc. She did wait until the divorce was finalized to get back out there, but her mindset is more along the lines of "I wasted 10+ years with this piece of shidd and he cheated on me and did me wrong, I am entitled to have some fun now."

It's bad out there. According to her there are no good men out there anymore.
I told her if she stopped being such a ##### she might meet a good one.

someone but when I showed her the size of my pallet deck, she fell head over crocs.
She married first dude to get away from her parents. Realized pretty quick that it's not going to work and bolted.
But now that we are both late 30's we have both said if it doesn't work out between us we will just get a larger house, she stays on one end I'll stay on the other because 1. both of us ain't giving up the kids and 2. neither of us is doing this #### again.

People need to be better liars.
Correct response: Guys, it was me. While drunk, I approached my wife to see if she'd be interested in setting up a 3-some with the "divorcee-to-be". She told me that the "divorcee-to-be" wasn't even on the market, and it sounded like there might be a chance so I showed her the dating app picture. (gives explanation and new found respect from the other guys).
Of course I didn't let her know who found the dating app photo (hidden threat) but it certainly went down hill from that point (instills sympathy from other guys).
This is how it should have been handled.

Like, make him bring the ice for the garage bar, or buy food the next time y'all get together. Or give him a random fantasy football loser-style punishment...something that makes y'all laugh but also sets the standard that there will be payment expected for such transgressions against the code moving forward.
