Great restaurant between Seneca and Walhalla

Oct 28, 2021, 3:00 PM

Back in 70's while at Clemson, I went to a very unique restaurant on the main road between Seneca and Walhalla. A big white farmhouse that had family style food. And I believe it had grandma and the family working there. On the west side of Hwy 28 Blue Ridge Blvd. Anybody remember the name? Thanks

Ok. While we are on this subject, anyone remember a restaurant on Lake Hartwell just off I85 at the first exit across the GA line in the early 1980’s? Maybe at a marina? I only went there once or twice but I remember it being really good and popular with CU students.

There was one near the lake toward Hartwell, GA and a marina called the Swamp Guinea. At one time, it was all you could eat family style. When I moved back after retiring, we went there and it was a menu restaurant with bar. I heard a few months back that it is closed now.

That’s it! Thanks ! I couldn’t remember the name. We moved back here just before Covid and I was trying to find out if it was still open. The all you could eat option was great for a dirt poor college student in the 80’s.

Swamp Guinea is not open. If you want to duplicate the old experience, go to Booty's in Royston, Ga.

Swamp Guinea was almost inside city of Hartwell. Nowhere close to interstate. It was on Reed Creek Hwy.
There was a restaurant at Marina, but can't remember name.

Swamp Guinea is the one I was thinking of. I remembered the name as soon as I heard it. I was probably mistaken about the proximity to the interstate. It was 40 years ago and I was probably not totally sober….
