Why Death Valley and Clemson are so special

Nov 4, 2014, 6:50 PM

My daughter visited several schools but was having a very difficult time making a decision. That Saturday I decided to take her to her first Clemson game. One visit to Clemson and she was hooked

She enjoyed her campus visit and the academics available but her visit to the Valley to watch Clemson beat up Virginia was the deciding factor.

After 2 qts of football in the Valley she told me that Clemson was her one and only choice. Even though she had to jump through several hoops and work hard to get in , she never gave up. The impact of her experience that night in Death Valley has translated into a 4 year IPTAY member and a scheduled spring graduation. During those 4 years she has developed life long great friendships, received a great education and has had lots of fun at the best University in the country.

Go Tigers!!

I was fortunate, my Dad was a wise man telling me I could go anywhere I wanted for college but if I wanted him to pay for it, I had better choose Clemson! I imagine it was the same thing his father said to him 30 years earlier. I am and will always be grateful for their wisdom because I absolutely loved my years at Clemson! Go Tigers!

That's awesome. It was the opposite for us.

I was told by my daughter it's Clemson. No other place, so we worked hard to make it happen.

Congrats to you and good luck in the future.

Hug her Tight, and give thanks to God for her "getting it"!

You should give her a huge hug for learning about making wise choices and valuing the example set by her Dad and Mom! She has learned very well, my friend!!!

My daughter grew up a Tiger. Her senior year in high school she applied to Clemson and was rejected for admission. She reapplied and was rejected. At that point, I suggested she might want to look at some other schools. Her response to me was, " Daddy, if I can't go to Clemson, I just won't go to college." On her 3rd try she was accepted. My daughter (who I am very proud of, by the way) went on to graduate from Clemson in 4 years with HONORS!! She married a Tiger and is now a successful businesswoman and one hell of a Tiger!!
