Grant of Rights

Jul 1, 2022, 10:24 AM

The grant of Rights is both keeping the ACC together and leaving those with a chance to go elsewhere behind. So is it a positive or negative?

It Is Irrelevant

Jul 1, 2022, 11:09 AM

at least as Clemson is concerned. We have legal “leverage”.

Out of curiosity, what leverage do we have? I've heard that it's a pretty airtight GOR, and unless 8 or more teams leave, it keeps any one team leaving pretty much off the table.

I posted about this as well asking questions. I did just read that the speculated buy out to leave the conference is rumored to be 50 million.

I believe the buy-out is just north of $40MM.... but that's in ADDITTION to the GOR, which is much, much bigger.

I read 100 plus you still don't have your media rights. There are differing accounts of what is in the document.

Couldn't conferences/lawyers get creative with payouts?

Jul 1, 2022, 11:42 AM

What if, let's say, the new Big 10 doesn't pay out TV rights money to its schools? The schools get paid in a different way. Could there be workarounds like this?

I think that Clemson has an excellent chance at a countersuit against the ACC for fiduciary malfeasance. They have left the conference and its members vulnerable due to the ineptitude of Swofford.

If UNC is on our side, it's cake- they NEVER lose lawsuits. File it in the state of North Carolina.
