supposed to be their enemies. It's important that they know their problems and concerns are being heard. Let them know they are not the enemy, but are Americans who are important, and show them how "conservative" policies help instead of hurt them. I know that may seem like a waste of time to many, but I think it would make a difference, and I think pubs are really bad at it.

they need to look at what Trump, despite the world's most acerbic personality and a world of foes calling him racist in every way imaginable, did to trend both Latino and Black voters to the GOP in a way we have perhaps never seen. If they can isolate that and incorporate it into the party message, I'm all for it.
It's worked better than establishment pubs trying to gently explain how much they care over the past 60+ years.

message out to people who don't traditionally vote for you is not "playing nice", and it doesn't involve sacrificing or forsaking any principles. It's doing it the right way, and it's smart politics if you really believe what you preach. If your strategy is nothing but preaching to the choir while constantly bashing your opponnents, that's why you lose.
