No, he's not.

May 31, 2022, 4:42 PM

Refineries already shut down on their own, and that's the primary driver of high gas prices right now.

you'd have to be pretty stupid to believe that.

You and 19B need to get your talking points in order.

Not a good look when two lefties contradict each other when conjuring up the 'big oil bad' talk.

Re: It seems rather important to understand

May 31, 2022, 5:55 PM

Don’t waste your time…Keowee and others here would gladly sacrifice the health and well-being of anyone (except themselves of course) for what they feel is their inalienable right for cheap gas.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"They should just move!"

May 31, 2022, 5:58 PM

Pull yourself up by the bootstraps does not apply when gas goes over $2.75 (Or any convenient subsidy)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: "They should just move!"

Jun 1, 2022, 1:00 AM

Of course, instead of 'pulling yourself up by the bootstrap,' just ask Momma or Daddy for some money.

Re: How would you suggest we address the issue of environmental justice?***

Jun 1, 2022, 1:07 AM

Environmental justice is when people who cannot afford to live in 'fancy' places choose to live in places that they can afford.

They don't have to live in such placed permanently. They can always apply to live in government subsidized housing.

For those who want to live in nicer, cleaner neighborhoods, they can sacrifice short term pleasures (cable TV, booze, fast food, weed, clubbing) and commit to longer term activities to improve their value in society (go back to school, learn a trade, etc.)

There are choices which people make that limit their choices to neighborhoods that are nearer to trash dumps and water treatment / sewage treatment plants. That doesn't mean those neighborhoods are NECESSARILY unsafe environmentally; rather, it means that they are not pleasant from an ambiance perspective.

And you can always donate to charities which help to improve housing for the impoverished (Habitat for Humanity) instead of b_ _ ching for others to spend the money instead of you.

You have an answer for every situation!

Jun 1, 2022, 1:54 AM

Easy peasy..

You should consult people on different ways to pull up their bootstraps, because we can't give credence to the environmental justice nonsense.

Do you walk to work or ride a bicycle to work?

If not, then walk the walk (literally) before mouthing off to others about their use the same resources that you use.

Being a phony just isn't cool, even you and your friends tell each other that you're cool.

they are labeled carcinogens

May 31, 2022, 9:56 PM

here are just a few of them, all are emitted from oil refineries.

Acetaldehyde
Benzene
Butadiene
Ethylbenzene
Naphthalen
Formaldehyde (gas)
Sulfur dioxid
Lead
Nickel

Congratulations on having a life style / job combo that doesn't require you to drive a lot.

But why not live it instead of talking about it?

Take the bus / subway; ride a bike or walk. That is (literally) walking the (environmental / no big oil) walk instead of just virtue signaling on social media.

Don't be a phony.

Re: they are labeled carcinogens

I did that for several years in Santa Monica. I road a Bike to work every single day. I am pushing 50 now, and south Florida is not really a good place for Bike commutes and good luck building a subway down here you goof.

But spare me the tigerbalm is a hypocrite spiel, I am well aware that society would cease to function without fossil fuel, but I do better than most of you.

That’s barely an hour on the bike a day. Maybe yours with the step-through frame and flower basket is much slower, idk.

Re: Going green (soybeans / peanuts / corn oil)? Aflatoxins

Jun 1, 2022, 12:55 AM [ in reply to they are labeled carcinogens ]

OK, let's go green and use veggie oils instead of hydrocarbons.

Soybean Oil / Corn (for ethanol) / peanuts ... sounds great, huh!

Ever heard of aflatoxins? These fungi are some carcinogenic MOFOs; they grow in corn, soybeans, and peanuts.

The dangerous toxins (i.e., the aflatoxins themselves) are present in the field, harvest, and processing of soybeans, corn, and peanuts.

Grow up ... there are risks / rewards that go with everything.

(And if you've never been near one, soybean processing plants are stinky, dusty, and noisy.)

Go green, baby!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Going green (soybeans / peanuts / corn oil)? Aflatoxins

Jun 1, 2022, 6:42 AM

Alfatoxins are not fungi, they are produced by fungi. And while they are carcinogens, it is exposure through ingestion that can cause cancer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jun 1, 2022, 10:46 AM [ in reply to Re: Yet brain dead libs think he hasn’t done anything to cause high prices.*** ]

Well, that is a pretty biased sourced, but it still doesn't say that much why the price of a barrel of oil on the world market is so expensive. The USA is producing 10% less oil now than we did when President Trump was in office. Representatives from oil companies are on the tube all of the time. If we produced 10% more oil right now, gas prices might go down just a touch according to the people in the industry and people that work closely with the industry. It would be great if Biden could solve the problems with the skyrocketing price of a barrel oil on the world market, but he can't. The price of a barrel of oil isn't going to go from 110 to 80 if we increase production 10%. It's world issue and it's more complex than Sleepy Joe. He may suck, but he it's more complex.
