Has anyone heard why he isn’t getting reps, there was a lot of hype going into the season from inside and outside that he was the game changer we would need and he could have immediate impact for our tigers (like Weston/Moore last year)??
Yeah, yeh, I know people will say it’s the senior rule, or Dabo loyalty… but any other theorizes? Injury? Not picking up system?
I just wonder why they dont give him a chance and see if he can flash?

2017 Tavien Feaster was the guy to start, but then it became 1-2 with you know who? True Freshman Travis Etienne Jr Dabo gave Travis a chance against Louisville in our second game of season. Do you remember what happened?
He didn’t answer his own question, because a lot of it is the fact we haven’t felt comfortable at any point in our 2 games we’ve played.
The time has not been right.
But…I feel he is absolute speed that we cannot let sit on the sideline much longer. IF AT ALL.
I would honestly expect some tweaks in the playbook to get Davidson in the mix against Georgia Tech. We’re already at the point of no more “mulligan” losses. So here we go. Whole thing from Riley.

UL was the 3rd game of the season and we were firmly in control.

ETN got zero carries against Auburn the week before. He got some against Kent St in the opener in a blowout. We aren’t creating separation in games we need to to play young guys. This is a multi year issue and it causes players to not be ready and lack the experience that this program thrived on the 2nd half of the last decade. He did have 1 nice run yesterday but until he learns to block, it pretty much tells the D what is coming when he is in the game.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he red shirts and transfers with us running 31 yards in that first game.

Offseason reports shared he hadn't quite got the playbook down.
Watching him get a few carries yesterday, the OL got stuffed if I remember right the few times he got the ball.

Okay, makes sense, he’s leaning, and this is why when we play these second tier teams we need to blow them out, so guys like him get real reps and playing time, same with QB CV, we need to get him more real playing time …….

He isn’t learning anything standing on the sidelines playing 1-2 snaps per game . He isn’t learning anything more than he did in practice by not playing. He wont be here next year anyway so it doesn’t matter anyway .

Yeah well I guess we aren't willing to let him get our starting QB injured while he learns to block. Yhat's where practice comes in.

needed them. In a tight game like that with little room for error, a vet like #8 getting the lion's share of reps is pretty much coaching 101. You take the W and move on to new opportunities ahead.
I suspect we'll see Davidson continue to get more looks as his experience comes about. Long season ahead still.

Randall has less RB experience than any of our RBs.
He gets a free pass for fumble. If any other RB fumbled they would ride the pine.

He nerds more work in ball security for sure. Simple covering up when in traffic and the failure to shift the ball to tbe outside hand when he broke away for the 30yd run. But the kid is strong.

They're not called free passes, they're called learning experiences. His performance from there, especially in the 2nd half, was a major factor in what ultimately was a top 3 historic rally.

Because we played a terribly inefficient first half? Then we woke up and won going away in the 2nd?
Personally I'm pretty happy with how we ultimately responded there when getting down with our backs against the wall, especially with the long in-game delay. Our D holding our opponent to 10 points was also impressive, along with a 2.4 YPC against the rush. Hopeful that finally getting some rhythm going on Offense will inspire better play ahead.

He is still learning the blocking aspect of the game. If you remember, Etienne had the same issues early in his career. Once he adjusted.......he took off.....LITERALLY!!

CJ Spiller started his first game as a true freshman at Clemson, got significant snaps along with James Davis, and set the Clemson record for total all purpose yards as a freshman. I don't think he had fully grasped the play book either. Gideon must be woefully short of CJ seeing how the cupboard is bare. He might not be very good, no idea. So why have we devoted almost 2 years talking about how great he is and that he would be a day one starter? Pumpers. Board is overrun with them.

Spiller’s start was the Old TB recruiting promise. Thank God we don’t do that any more. Especially when we open against teams like Bama, UGA, LSU etc. Remember Jamie Harper. Seems like there was someone else who screwed up bad first play during that time period. Spiller did have 1 of his signature plays against BC week 2 though. He was special for sure. We ran 2 backs sets a lot that year. Davis, Merriweather and Spiiller. Was that the year JD missed time with a wrist injury. I digress. As for Davidson, I hope he becomes trustworthy quickly and earns more PT or we get in position score wise to get him on the field. I would rather he be getting snaps that way than an act of desperation. We have bigger problems than RB IMO.

Freshmen offensive players almost always are worked into the rotation slowly over several games every season. Nothing new here. The more he gets the play book down, the more he does the right things in practice, the more assignments he executes and does not whiff on, the more he will play. This is every season, every player, especially freshmen, must earned the coach's trust and earned their playing time.

Sometimes the guy in front of you is playing better real time football. In tight games you do not want to move away from a player who is doing a very good job at his position.

I think he needs more opportunities as well. I like Randal but he has no shake n bake, good straight line runner but won't be a great inside runner or long run treat.
