Genesis 3

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.”
I thought the Serpent was Satan? But here it says it was a wild animal. Not some angel who rebelled against god.
“ And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
So basically man was created not to have free will (knowing good and evil) or live forever?

Genesis three is really, really interesting once you look very closely at it.
Note that the serpent didn't lie, God did.
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.
And they didn't die, just like the serpent said.
Eve: "God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” Again, they didn't die, despite God directly saying they would.
Now, an argument could be made that they died because they got kicked out of the garden, and were not allowed to eat of the Tree of Life, but they weren't allowed to eat of the Tree of Life anyway, and thus were doomed to death from the very start.
In fact, God is very concerned they will eat of the Tree of Life..."He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." So did God never plan for man to live forever, despite concealing it from Adam and Eve?
Also, they are cursed to do the very same thing they are doing in the garden...working it and the land.
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." "So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken."
Also note that Adam is not created in the Garden...he's placed there after he's created, then removed and sent home after he falls.
"Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
"Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed."
"So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken."
Also, the two stories (one in chapter 1 and the second in chapter 2), differ in how man was made and the sequence of creation.
"Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image..." - keyword "said", speaking man into existence "Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground..." keyword "formed", like a craftsman working with his hands.
Those two stories are great, and I think there's a lot that is missed when they are not read very, very, carefully.

Well, there is the Book of Jubilees, which, despite apparently being held in high regard by early Christians, didn’t make it past the winnowing process to get into the Bible in the 2nd and 3rd centuries.
In it, all the animals in Eden spoke, not just the snake, Hebrew is spoken in Heaven, and several generations of incest were required for man to multiply. Who did Cain and Abel marry, after all? It’s a pretty interesting read, to say the least.

I did a half dozen posts on it a while back (Tigernet Search: Jubilees) and you can find the full, original text online. It also features the Nephilim, and Lilith, who was Eve's predecessor.

Well, really really disappointing to see the butchering of Genesis chapter three, as you have done.

I'm not going to read it if it's that bad.
Ezra 9:
"8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage."

How so?
I'd love to hear your perspective. This is a board to discuss religion after all ">">">.

Man knew freewill. Had he not been of free will then he would have been more like the stars and planets in that man would be directed by forces of nature which we could not resist. Adam could have resisted the temptation of taking the fruit of that tree yet he chose to eat it.
The fact that a nekkid woman gave it to him must have caused some type of movement below his equator.
That previous line is a joke, so don't go off on a tangent here, OK!
