What about grown men that wear them all the time?

Wife had a friend who’s husband had on an Eagles’ Jersey every time I saw him. Even events at nice places where a button down or such was way more appropriate
What a tool.

I had a Bennie Cunningham Clemson jersey when I was a kid

it wasn't a "real" jersey, it was more like an extra-thick t-shirt with #85 on it (think 1970's vintage). I wore that thing everywhere, even got my grammar school class picture in it. I loved that shirt/jersey.
That's about it for me and the jersey wearing. I do have one jersey I will wear in public as an adult, I bought it on a whim at a sports memorabilia show long ago, a game-used Montreal Expos jersey. I bought it solely because it was #69. Plus it's a coolazz defunct-team jersey. I'll bum around in it and wear it to Home Depot or grocery store every once in awhile. Just for the lulz. I get random funny comments sometimes about either the Expos or the number.
looks exactly like this, only with #69.

I'm no jersey wearing fellow except the occasional soccer shirt but this guys sounds like a guy with a Steelers jersey came and stole his boyfriend and he now has it out to prove his masculinity via this take so that one day Ricky might take him back and realize jerseys are not cool.
I like the old NBA jerseys, they look cool, but I wouldn't wear one. Gimme and Bogues Charlotte jersey any day.
Bought my middle a Charlotte FC MINT away kit the other day, it is super fresh.

Women and kids, ok. Early 20's male wearing one, still somewhat ok. A grown man wearing another man's jersey, Tool.

It depends on if you're idolizing or paying respect.

And to be clear, I'm almost 100% anti-jersey, but let's take a Braves jersey. Fanboying with a Acuña jersey is infinitely less cool than showing some old school respect with a vintage Dale Murphy jersey. Much like a Gordie Howe Red Wings jersey will always be cooler than a current Patrick Kane Blackhawks jersey.
It's like going to a concert....it's cool to wear an old tour t-shirt from a random group, you just don't wear the t-shirt of the band you're seeing.

I don't know, man. Seems a little weird to me. Probably not a completely logical statement, but I'm ok with a collectable - like if you have a signed jersey in your bar.
And, for some reason, I don't feel the same way about rocker t-shirts.

I suspect that it's a lot like a 1987 IROC Camaro.

It's not the car you really despise, as much as what you think it would make you look like driving one because of who usually drives one.
For sports jerseys, of course you usually think about the 45 year old washed up NFL fan meathead with a BMI that approaches his IQ. The guy who gets in violent arguments over fantasy football, spends his kids' tuition savings on personal seat licenses, and drops F bombs to grandmas in the upper deck cheap seats because he was already drunk off Bud Ice 3 hours before kickoff.
You don't hate the jersey, you hate the man.

Well... Hate is a little strong. But probably somewhat correct. I'm not going to defriend someone because they want to wear a jersey, but yeah, I seem to see a lot of people acting stupid while wearing jerseys.
Put that jersey on and it seems to turn a lot of 35 year olds into 11 year olds.
Plus, I ain't wearing another man's name on my back.

Redwings like Cameron is rocking there is a great one, plus the Backhawks, Flames, old Whalers, Devils, etc.
Also glad they don't insist on calling them 'sweaters' so much anymore. They are jerseys FFS.

A close call would be a baseball jersey or 90's NBA jersey to party/lounge in.

Merida years ago. We went to several Mexican League ball games over the 2 weeks we were there. I do enjoy wearing that one from time to time. Nobody really has any idea what it is when I do.
