NCAA
There is no telling what the NCAA will do. They're inconsistent and irrational acts know bounds.
1. Coaches are specifically forbidden from mentioning any recruit by name until the NLI is in the house.
2. But, there can be pictures posted all over the internet with the coach and the recruit and his family all decked out in Clemson gear and the recruit saying, "I'm going to Clemson!" That's not a violation.
So, my paranoia factor rises. What if that recruit retweets Riley's post with this heading, "That's me he's talking about. Thanks, Coach Riley"?
Will some idiot at the NCAA interpret that as Riley breaking the rules? (Don't tell me there is no way the NCAA could ever do that. I've been to more than a few NCAA rodeos. They can interpret anything anyway they want.)
Note: I'm not predicting it will happen. Just pointing out my paranoia. And, remember, just because you're paranoid that doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I'm just amazed at a system where it's illegal for a coach to mention the name of a recruit, but it's perfectly legal for a rich fan of a team to pay a recruit millions of dollars to come play for his favorite team.

It is legal for a coach to pose for a picture with the recruit and have that photo plastered all over social media. But it is against the rules for the coach or any member of the university to have any contact with anybody affiliated with anyone who is paying the player to come play for the university.
