Mixed feelings on that. It was against the rules and he knew it was against the rules. He also made bets on his own team which I do not think is or will be allowed on the proposed rules.

Not sure Pete bet on the his own team, but he bet on baseball and lied so long about it. It’s the perception and the potential aspects that should make any gambling illegal if your an athlete. If you are a football player and bet on horses, perception is maybe you tank

"Perfectly legit". Dozens of people were arrested yesterday because it is specifically not perfectly legit.
The NBA banned a player, Jontay Porter, last year for life. Because it's not legit. The same is about to happen to Billups and Rozier.

It's perfectly logical , when you consider that in Rose's era it wasn't just illegal but also viewed by the public as taboo.
Today , the public not only views it as normalized , but indeed participates in the arena with the backing of pervasive advertising campaigns led by top athletes and Hollywood stars.
This wide acceptance comes from a pointed campaign aimed at politicians at every level taking payoffs to push gambling laws down and allow the eruption of it on the internet and our televisions at home.
My 12 year old son asked me what a billboard in the Savannah area meant , it was a betting site's ad campaign.
That's how they get ya. Glitzy , shiny promises of riches. It's a done deal.
