It is obvious that who ever is recruiting QBs for us

is not doing a good job. GR did not recruit DJ or Cade. This probably was a gift from B Streeter. Praying Dabo finds the solution to our main problems during the open week and gets them solved. GR and TA have not been good hires. That is on Dabo. Chad M could fix the offense and recruit the correct QBs. I would like someone to run the B V defense scheme again. At one time we were aggressive on offense and defense. Dabo lost his way on hiring the right coordinators with the right schemes.

Jury still out...think we need more than 4 games to see his style...also, we need to see if the players decide to come to play.

I agree about Tom Allen. Give him more than four games to fix what took three years to ruin. I do wish he would call the game from the field though. Don't think it's working from the press box. Pretty sure he was on the sidelines while at Penn St.

they moved him to the box because people couldn't understand him on the mic, he has a legit voice thing, it's not that he's horse all the time he has some medical thing that throws his voice off all the time.

Regardless, I think he should be down on the sideline. Make some signals or something, but we need his energy down there. I'll take that over his lack of crystal clear communication.

It’s the development and coaching. DJ and Cade both had all the potential in the world coming out of high school.

I was also sold on DJ and Cade when they signed... 5*****, big time players from big time programs and big level competition, big time stats. I also look at what other schools offered and the lists were long and full of all the major programs. Both were "Can't miss players." Did Clemson and everyone else miss on the evaluations? Once they got here, were they not developed properly, was the Clemson offense not suited to their strengths or maybe, their Senior year was their peak and ceiling (I believe that this is the hardest thing to evaluate). Probably a bit of "All the above." Quite verbose I know...your thoughts are encouraged.

Nail, meet hammer. You hit it on the head.

Why does no one remember the regression of TLaw his sophomore season? Turnover machine.

Watching him on the sidelines with Streeter you could see in his eyes he was not listening to Streeter his junior year.

referred him to our staff.

Not sure about Cade, but there was every reason to expect success from his stellar high school record in Texas. Thus, a couple of things had to occur with him: poor transferal of his high school talents to the collegiate level or poor development on our part, although I'm thinking both.

He’s 37.5% better when you take all metrics and average them out when we run tempo.

I don't think it is recruiting in our case. I think the problem is development after the fact. I mean two flops in a row? Both 5 star recruits? Developing a fine young man is one thing and a very honorable thing to do, but developing a QB to be excellent at what he does is the mark of good coaching and a good program. On the other hand I also agree, excellent QB's are usually excellent no matter what the rest of the team is like.

Nobody questions how good Dan Marino was, but he was top notch inspite of the rest of the team.

Kurt Warner is another....University of Northern Iowa....not exactly a powerhouse QB school. He was excellent inspite of where he played.

After watching teams this weekended I could go from school to school noting that even alot of the losing teams were often playing at a level we are not even close to. It just seems like our guys don't want it that bad. They don't seem hungry or energized which leads to just being sloppy. It's like the job your teenager does mowing the grass because you made him do it versus what you do because you own it. Our guys just don't seem to own it and play like it's their dad's team and not theirs.

3 teams tried to fix DJU 3 teams failed. That's all to do with the player not the coaches. He had every physical tool you could ever ask for, just got the yips and never developed his mental game right.

“ Nobody questions how good Dan Marino was, but he was top notch inspite of the rest of the team.”

— Marino was one of four future NFL Hall of Famers on the 1980 Pitt team and lost with the #1 team in the country in 1981 and 1982. He was drafted by a Miami team that just made it to the Super Bowl and went 11-5 with a playoff win the year after he retired. Marino was 0-1 in Super Bowls (played poorly) and 1-2 in AFCCG in spite of all three games being in Miami. He played for two HOF coaches that won multiple Super Bowls without him.

Marino was a great QB and all, but the narrative that everyone around him always sucked and he’s blameless for not producing more team success is a myth.

Your last sentence is the real issue. There is 0 aggression and killer instinct on this team.

Recruiting is a part of the issue but this roster is loaded with blue chip talent.

Streeter and Dabo recruited Tlaw. DJ had/has a rocket arm but his mechanics never got cleaned up and he was never asked to do much more than throw go balls and posts in HS, he was far from polished and needed to be developed up stairs.

Cade broke Drew Brees records and destroyed Texas HS football at 6A level, he did not/does not have a rocket but whats blowing my mind is he was a better decision maker in HS than in college, they ran alot of tempo, options, and rpos at his HS. Read options and rpos require quick decision making so his drop off in that department is telling in my eyes.
