Oh, that’s a good guess too… both schools need a program builder and he, despite the fact that he hasn’t won “the big one”, did rebuild PSU and Vandy before that

Agree both would make sense. But I think he'd go for the va tech. Knows that Pennsylvania and North East recruiting area. Passionate fanbase for football.

Mullen at Usuck would be my guess if Beamer leaves for Va. Tech. Which i find highly unlikely.

Yeah, part of me thinks he wants to carve his own legacy somewhere new. Another part of me laughs to think it’ll be in Cooterville.
If I was him the move to VT makes too much sense.

Why do you think Beamer is going to VT? He isn’t leaving them unless they can him.

Not really. From what I’ve heard from that side of the family he’s got a least a couple more years. He made a good decision firing their OL coach this morning.

Totally disagree. Most of the fanbase understand what he's up against at usuck and he's made huge strides as opposed to the former coaches. He doesn't back down from firing staff. Recruiting is up, transfer recruitment is good. He's built a wonderful family culture.

This season is year 5 and he isn't really any better now than he was in year 1. The offense is awful, despite making changes. It's just a matter of when Carolina wants to make a change... Either this year or 2 years from now.
If VT wants Beamer, he should 100% go there long term bc he isn't getting any contract extensions in Columbia anymore.

VT will receive $40-60M. Agree Beamer could absolutely end up at VT. But only if SC buys him out.

Maybe, except he has no recruiting ties in Oklahoma. UNC and VT… he already has a local network so it’s a bit more plug and play.
What I especially know is that it’s good for us from a recruiting standpoint. I went to Clemson Undergrad and PSU for grad school, so I know first hand how similar the schools are. One less large player going after our supply of recruits is good for the Tigers.

As a UNC alum I want a 45 year old coach with a 45 year old wife who can win 8 games most years. Would be nice to win 9 on a rare occasion. I would prefer that he not claim he’s going to create the 33rd NFL team and then produce one of the worst teams in college football. Also,….. nope that’s about all.

I went to Wren High School with Michael Hazel - his dad was Coach Hazel (amazing teacher and coach, great family). He's currently the Asst AD at VT, after following James Franklin around the last 15 years.
Who knows what happens, but those two definitely have a history of working together. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at VT.

Beamer will never go to Va. Tech in my opinion. He knows he can't equal his father's accomplishments. One of those 4 will end up at UNC I believe.

Yeah...you'll probably know more about this than me, but my understanding was that finances at UNC were already starting to get a bit tight. Sure, they're a good brand, and they've got boosters, but they don't have Ohio State/Texas A&M-type money. And in the new rev-share economy, football is outpacing basketball in revenue generation. Football has continued to disappoint despite numerous offensive standouts like Howell, Maye, and Hampton. The defense has just never been able to get a grip, and an ACC title as well as relevance on a national level still remain elusive. Meanwhile, basketball has gone through a bit of a down period (by comparison to UNC's admittedly lofty standards), and the 'Heels found themselves in limbo for a while trying to decide what direction to go in with Hubert Davis, as well as how to navigate NIL and the portal for basketball. Then on top of all that, they just paid a hefty sum for Belichick, and now it looks like they're gonna have to pay him yet another large amount if they want him gone. So my question would be: does UNC even have the money left to pony up for another big-name football coach, even if they wanted to? Or maybe they could, but it would leave them depleted enough that they wouldn't want to go that far.

I can’t know the answer to your question about the money but my gut is the money and willingness is going to be a problem. Another gut feeling is if UNC shows a little patience pride will force BB to quit which will save UNC a bunch of money. It was just a dumb hire that has bitten UNC in the tail. The Board of Trustees thought they could short cut into football relevance by hiring BB. I think they thought players would flock to the program and ACC coaches would just bow and concede defeat to the great BB. I thought the hire had some potential to fall short of lofty expectations but I don’t know any UNC people who imagined this type of disaster.

That's a really good guess. He would give them some respectability and could build a competitive program. Only concern would be, would he be hungry enough to build a winning program?

We think that's the place Coach Franklin ends up as well, UNC. Would be best fit over Va Tech and UCLA. Now if Fla State lays an egg rest of season all bets would be on FSU.
