All Conference winners, all better than FSU. Granted, FSU has an awesome D, but due to their current state, they are not Top 4.

Aren't you supposed to win all your games on the field?

Not the same Texas either.
They’re also a better team since September.
Plus, Bama squeaked by a crappy Auburn team that got manhandled by the Aggies from New Mexico.

So, is the same Alabama that needed a fumbled punt and a miracle catch on 4th and goal from the 31 to beat a terrible Auburn team last week?

of defending itself should FSU win tonight.
They may say we want the best, but that remains highly idealistic and speculative without consideration of politics.

Right! But you got Clemson fans who are too far green with envy aalivating for the SEC Champ to be left out with 1 loss. And FSWho to be let in so they can hang off their coattails like SEC teams have done with Bama and UGA all these years!

But, "best" is a fool's errand.
In the end, the precedent that would be set by leaving out an undefeated P5 conference champ in favor of a team with a loss is just the wrong step.
Would/could FSU get stomped in the next game? Maybe, but you have to give them the chance. They've earned it.

Do you think the precedent matters with the new playoff coming next year? This won't really be an issue going forward.

Because I think it further drives the narrative that style points should trump winning all your games. Seeding will begin to matter even more with 12 teams, and there is no reason that being an undefeated P5 conference champ should make you up there with the very top, and not fighting for a spot with other teams who lost games.

so no way they should be left out. Not impressed with anyone this year being above others. It’s all a grab bag.

Well since that's a baseless guess without resume... we have to go with resume.

We know for a FACT that Bama isn't the best... because they already lost. FSU played an elite schedule (2 SEC non-conference games) and won their conference. Undefeated.

FSU does not have an awesome defense. They are decent but don’t forget Louisville is not good. BC scored 30, our Tigers were driving to put up 30 before that pivotal turnover.
FSU will be beaten easily in CFP, but they’ve played and won every game. Deserve, yes. Among top 4, not really. But we will see what happens. I think they are in but it would not shock to see them left out
