I get it, but it’s not going to change. For God’s sake, he was literally baptizing players on the practice field 15 years ago.

I don’t understand why everyone is so shocked that Dabo frames everything that happens to him, even this 1-3 start, in evangelical theistic framework. He has been doing this since he became head coach.

It comes with the territory, and while I personally don’t like it, it’s apart of who Dabo is, so I’m not going to be shocked about his comments yesterday.

I mean does anyone seriously think Dabo is forcing people to follow his particular faith ? I don’t think so. Dabo is allowed to go out and frame everything in an evangelical Christian framework in his press conferences if he chooses. I for one think evangelical Christianity is an illogical and false worldview , but Dabo has the right to proclaim his beliefs, even if we find them to be annoying or false or whatever.

It’s a prime example of why there are huge buyouts in coaching contracts. You don’t want rash people taking rash actions during times of adversity.

NIL minimum use with the expectation that Dabo won’t do it and can then be fired for insubordination 2 days after a disappointing loss not rash?

Rash: careless or unwise, without thought for what might happen or result - Cambridge Dictionary

And please reread my post. Buyout has nothing to do with your preferred press conference verbiage, unless you are calling for Dabo to be fired based on how many times he mentions whatever rubs you the wrong way in his presser. If that’s what you are saying, then yes, that’s also rash.

No need to get excited.

OP addressed people complaining about Dabo's religious rants.

Your post references mob mentality with no mention of NIL, firing Dabo, or Dabo's buyout. I reread it like you asked.

My post doesn't say anything about firing anyone. Point is this: wanting Dabo to tone it down with the religious stuff (what this whole thread is about) isn't rash; it's just good sense.

Look, I see that you mentioned buyouts . . . but again, it's a straw man. It's not rash for people to want Dabo to invoke God less often.

There you go. You're welcome.

Here's a definition from Merriam Webster for you FM: Arrogant - exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner. Reminds me of a certain football coach these days . . . and maybe a certain Tnet poster whose star is similarly falling.

Yet no one had a problem with it when we were winning Nattys and when it was resonating with recruits and their parents who wanted that family values foundation.

His real message is “I don’t tote my faith out just when it’s convenient or when we are doing well, but I do rely on it at all times, especially during adversity.”

He is unwavering in his faith and we’ve all known that about him from day one, and telling him to “tone it down” is essentially telling him he is no longer allowed to be himself.

Not what he is saying nor is he using it as an excuse. He is essentially admitting he is not immune to adversity but knows God has a plan and will direct his steps toward the plan he has for him.

Only God knows if that is to stay or go and he is prepared for either outcome as long as it is God’s will.

So you know for a fact that was his intention ? You could be reading your own meaning into it, which I’m confident you are, because Dabo said it was all on him and he feels the pain and that he has failed. So you’re 100% projecting your own meaning onto Dabo’s faith based rhetoric.

Now if he would have said , “God works in mysterious ways, and this 1-3 start isn’t my fault or responsibility, it’s Gods”, then I would agree. But he didn’t say that but that’s essentially how you’re interpreting his religious rants, which we should all be used to by now.

I am all for him using his very visible position in the college football world in a positive way, to use it to glorify God. That is one of my favorite things about him. He has led multiple players to the Lord, and strengthened the faith of countless others. That's incredible!

But I don't need to hear Dabo reference "God's mysterious ways," after we lose games we shouldn't, and I certainly don't want to hear him act like us sucking this year is part of God's plan somehow. It isn't.

Because when you win, giving glory to the creator is admirable, but when you lose blaming him is less admirable and invoking Gods plan after not one but 3 losses kinda has the smell of passing the buck off on God.
If anything God may be using these losses to both humble Dabos prideful spirit before he squanders what’s left of a very good program but somehow I don’t think Dabo is getting the right message.

What are the chances that a 55 year old man, who has talked like a southern Baptist preacher for 17 years at Clemson is suddenly going to change his ways ? You can complain and btch all you want, Dabo isn’t going to change, so waste your energy if you feel like it. He didn’t change his ways when he got pressure to tone it down from the freedom from religion foundation

I’m not saying you can complain but to me, it’s illogical at this point to expect a man nearing elderly age is suddenly going to change. That seems absurd.
