I find it somewhat interesting that he is the #1 qb which is supposedly the most vital position yet they overall rank him #15. So how does that work?

don't know what anybody could know enough about him to have an opinion one way or the other, much less project him as the starter next year.

It will definitely be his job to lose.

I see it as 50/50 Stoudt and Kelly with a true battle

for starter. Which is a good thing for the team. Stoudt knows his deficiencies and what to work on. If he can do that - especially mobility - he's in.

Kelly is far more talented

if Stoudt wins the job it's because Kelly isn't realizing his potential.
I like Stoudt and think he's a hard worker and a serviceable QB who could be starting at at least half of the other ACC schools, but talent wise I just don't think he was born with what Kelly and Watson were born with.

I would not count out Stoudt... Kelly has talent... Stoudt looks good and manages the offense extremely well. I like Stoudt, he is an excellent passer protects the ball and is getting better at running with the ball in his hands... but he is not the dual threat that Kelly and Watson are. I have noticed that turnovers kill our offense.. when we lose the turnover battle we often lose the game.

We will use Watson and Kelly

I suspect Kelly to be our running QB with Watson being the pocket-passer type QB, taking most of the workload by end of the '14 season. Once Watson matures at the college level, he will be an every down QB. I can see us using them both, as they bring different aspects of the game to the table.

Just based on how things work in big-time college football:
Sep 24, 2013, 4:35 PM
|
|
Stoudt in '14 Kelly in '15 and '16. Watson in '16 and '17
If this this the case, it shows we have arrived as far as the QB position.

no way in the world Watson comes here to sit on the bench for 2 years.

He'll be able to compete for the job.
Also, read my post again. It's three years, not two.

It would be a waste of talent to put your 2 best QBs

in as starters when one is true freshman unless you have no other choice. We have a choice right now.

you don't burn a redshirt for that and then it becomes very obvious what play is going to be called....

in their freshman years - redshirt! Remember Watson went out to Elite 11 and dropped way down...Stoudt deserves it next year, then Chad then Watson

Luginbill is right on this one. I think he makes a great QB, but I doubt he gets PT until 2015 season at the earliest. I believe Kelly has the tools and the ability and the desire going to make us a great QB, too. What a great problem to have! Two QB's who can bring it.

The only problem with having two who can play is ...

... that one or the other may decide to transfer.
Keeping two highly competitive, start-worthy QBs happy on the same team is a real challenge these days.

You may be right, but if so, we will have to depend a whole lot less on our QB using his feet to make plays, and that makes me nervous. Stoudt does not impress me as a runner, so far, but I have not seen too much of him. I sure hope I'm wrong, if he is the guy, because this offense needs that dimension.

I like Stoudt, and look forward to seeing Kelly play as well. I do not think you bring in someone with Watson' talent planning to redshirt him. If he is the best QB then he starts, if he is the second best he plays, if he is third then he likely will redshirt. I think you have to get the second best QB ready to play and Morris does that better than and QB coach we have had in my memory. When TB was head coach we sucked at that... injured QBs played too much when they should not have been on the field. The walkon Schuessler may be 2nd or 3rd QB next year. 3 Nick Schuessler QB 6' 3" 185 So Grayson, Georgia

Stoudt next year, Chad the next then Watson (redshirt?)

Stoudt will be drafted high, then Chad after the next year, then it is Watson's time (remember he dropped very low among the Elite 11 - also Boyd, Winston and Chad were redshirted!

I agree. Redshirt Watson. We will have two good QB's why waste a year. Give him time to adjust to college game, get in weight room learn the offense.

Stoudt could easily start for EVERY ACC team and be very successful everywhere. I say Stoudt gets the starting job next year if he stays healthy.
