(PS Fitz&Connolly both Harvard Grads)Fitzgerald is a certified strength-and-conditioning specialist through both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).Once Fitzgerald left for Penn St, Joe Connolly in as strength conditioning quickly promoted, since then Carolina never missed a beat. Now for Batson?

You do realize that we currently have 2 master level strength coaches (CSCCA) on staff currently...........Batson and Greenlee
And had a third, Abernethy, who this summer to go to Furman.......
What's your point?

My point is this, its not that Batson is bad but the differnces are their Programs dont look the same as far as their workouts and the others are younger 25 years is a long time, maybe his methods and approach is outdated,Im not saying fire the guy Im nobody to say such a thing, its only most head coaches dont stay in that long. All I know is this Carolinas players looked stronger they past the eye test.Maybe Carolina is Jucing maybe the whole SEC but thr differnce is very clear.

I will have to admit that strength and conditioning was NOT our problem this year....
We had other problems but S&C was not it.

25 years is a long time?Somethings not right,Carolina Players had much more muscle mass across the board;bigger stronger with enough speed.

On the offensive line specifically.......under Spence we wanted and recruited lighter and more agile lineman. He gets canned and our coaching staff decided they wanted to run the ball more........so those same lineman now had to put on extra pounds and become something they were not. Meanwhile we started recruiting larger lineman........and you guessed it Napier is fired and in comes Morris.
And predictably he now needs these big guys to be more agile.......this is why you see TE's being moved to tackle etc. (Price from last year and now McClain).
This is a problem (on both sides of the ball) when you recruit for certain systems and change coaches every 3 years.........the coach leaves but you still got the same guys.
And you ask your strength coaches to change their philosophy to coordinate with the change in systems........all with the same guys.
It is a truly thankless job in my opinion
