First game at Clemson for this fan from Mississippi

Been a Clemson fan for over 30 years from Mississippi and my wife got us tickets last Christmas for the LSU game.
This will be my first time to a home game and just wanting some ideas on how to spend the time in Clemson on game day?
We would like to find a place for lunch to be able to watch the early Texas/OSU game. After that would like to know where to go for cool game day experience and or tailgating.
Lastly, is there any particular color (orange/purple) that is being suggested to where to the LSU game?
Any tips and recommendations for a first timer on campus for game day is greatly appreciated!!
Go Tigers!

Have to take care of business first - Nice first post, Coot!
Now that we have dispensed of the pleasantries, you can go to a bar downtown and get lunch and watch the early game. Another option is go to the Hendrix center and get lunch and an ice cream from the 55 Exchange. I believe there are still TVs upstairs in the lounge there where you can watch the game. Lots of folks will have the early games playing at their tailgate as well. Then head toward the stadium and there will be people tailgating all along the way. If you stop and talk to them, many will invite you to share in their food and/or drink. If no one does, come to Jervey Meadows behind the softball stadium and we’ll take care of you. Wear orange. Every game except the Military Appreciation Day game, which is purple. Welcome to (the real) Death Valley!

Honestly, you should just sell those tickets and use the money to fund

a nice, romantic getaway weekend. There used to be a Motel 6 on the I-85 frontage road with a great view of the Peachoid. Short walk to a Stuckey's for a pecan log roll and smokes. And the vibrating beds are only a quarter. Probably 50 cents now, but still worth it my man. I can't be sure if this is all still accurate today, I haven't had a luxury vacation in 25 years.

Wow, I come back this morning and literally one comment that gives me some sort of guidance. This sure isn't making me feel very good about the fan base of the team that I have supported for many years.
I truly was looking for some suggestions for someone who is not familiar with the area on game day and all I get is crap responses. I thought I would come hear and be inundated with things I need to do...
Somebody please help restore some faith in what I hope to experience when we come to campus!!
And what is a freaking "Coot"???? Somebody update me please...

A Coot is a Gamecock fan especially one that masquerades as a Clemson fan on TNet. Some people throw that at anyone that posts something they disagree with...it can get to the point of being as pathetic as an actual coot.
I have no idea why anyone would brand you that way based on your post. Rudeness seems to break into all the fan bases.
For the game try going to the Esso Club or Tiger Town Tavern. Try to get there early as they fill up pretty quickly.
To tailgate you usually have to purchase a tailgating spot....they run around $300 for big games.
Enjoy the game...sorry about the d_icks on here. Some people's children....SMH

I agree with the parking spots previously mentioned near downtown. You will have to get there early but it will be the best you will get for this game. I’m not sure how much they will cost. Bring cash just in case. Start off downtown at Tiger town tavern. All the bars should have tv’s with the Texas football game on if Tiger town is packed. Maybe try TD’s on the corner also.
Check out the stores downtown for Clemson “stuff”. Check out esso club also.

“Nice first post, coot” is sort of like your initiation to Tigernet. EVERYONE gets that on their first post. After that, it all depends on your comments whether you ever hear the term again. The rest of my first response is legit information. Do you know where you are parking? If not, I suggest either St Andrews Catholic Church downtown or the parking garage downtown.
