Like others have said, if we have the #2 offense in FPI and the #8 defense, then we're gonna have a really freaking good year.

Particularly at corner. We need a HUGE year out of Tankersley, Edmond, Carter and Fields. If they can hold up, I don't see anybody beating us.

I put virtually no stock in ESPN's FPI. That said, it's good that our boys are getting some recognition, let's turn that into some reality!

I hate to state the obvious, but neither will any of the CFB pundits put stock in the FPIs! First words out of their mouths will be how Tigers won't have a chance vs this team or that team because they have had to replace so many on defense. Oh, I can hear it now. They will say it (they said it last year before UL, ND, FSU, and the CFP.) Either because the FPIs mean nothing at this stage or because of the usual no-respect fog that follows Clemson around all of the time. It's time they woke up and drank the orange kool-aid!

They have Texas A&M at #7 especially when they had the 107th rush defense last season and was 51st in total defense. No they were top 10 in pass defense but what defense shouldn't be in a league that might have the worst QB's in the nation so I don't get how FPI has them at #7 unless they just left rush defense out of the equation....

Put it like this:
Coming into 2015, Venables has to figure out how to replace 9 with 7 (back end and LBs in tact and concerns with the front 4 with the exception of Lawson). Coming into 2016, he has to figure out who how to replace 7 with a ton of talent. Reminds me of 2014 with way more talent. We know how that defense fared.
I put no stock in ESPN or any of those entities because they have to find something to do with their time between now and September. Clemson will be fine on both sides of the ball, even on the back end of the defense.
