I can gobble down some food, but I think the practice of dining is good for the soul. I try to at least have a long form meal on the weekends.

Y'all should come over for a dinner party that starts in the dining room and slowly ends with some wine in the Jazz Room. We love little dinner parties. If you like, maybe even a cigar in the garden. I can be a hard charger, but got to slow it down some times.

I do 16/8 intermittent fasting each day, which sounds really fancy but actually just means I skip breakfast. I finish dinner by 7pm then dont eat again til lunch around noon the next day which I guess is technically 17hrs but still. Never gone 24 hrs or more.

All fasting does is put your body in crisis mode

So that the next time you eat, you body is like “crap who knows when I will get more food. I better store all of this I can while I can.”
Then when you go back to eating regularly, you body still thinks it needs to store all the energy it can because it might be a while before you get more, so your body piles on the fat.
Eat when your body tells you you are hungry not the clock, drink water when you’re not hungry but think you want food.
Slow down and take a break 5 minutes into the meal to let your stomach catch up with your mind.

Only putting a fist size portion of protein and a fist sized portion of sides total on my plate at home and when I eat out which is way too often, ask for the to go box when they bring my plate and cut the portions down before I start eating.
Make where you can clean your plate without eating the whole thing is a mind game that works well for me.

After the third day the body's mechanism to burn fat kicks in full force. The 4th day is when you start taking in less calories than you need without the body trying to store anything again.
I've lost 30 lbs in a month doing that. It's not healthy at all but that 4th day to the end of the diet is humbling. the first three can be miserable but the idea is to break the sweettooth and the meat monger which lives within and ensure you are satisfied with calories which aren't wasted.

Do a 48 hour and you are not hungry, at least I was not, and had to really make myself eat small amounts.
Plan on doing a few of these after I get back from sipping bourbon and rye for a week.

sodas. That’s a slippery slope for me. One Coke leads to a dozen. Usually if I can hit 80 oz of water and 80 g of protein a day, the weight won’t fluctuate and there’s no room for sugary drinks.

I am not worried about my weight, but just figured it would get all sodium out of my body and reset everything. Some people say that is why they do it. I guess its good for insulin levels, but not sure why that matters.

Why are you wanting to fast?

I've done 48 hours, shoot maybe 60. It wasn't really on purpose though I was going through some F'ed up shat and simply couldn't eat. Never was hungry, but again that was like a one-off situation.
What works best for me is to eat around 10:30-11:00AM, then again between 4 and 5. Obviously circumstances don't allow for this to always happen and that's ok too. And I'm in the best shape of my life while being over fiddy yrs old.

grilled chicken on it for lunch. Boring as that may be, it's what I like.
2nd meal is very sensible portion-wise. Maybe it's chicken, rice, beans. Could be salmon, steamed veggies, and a sweet tater. Stuff like that.
If I snack after that I tend to grab a banana or an apple or something. Sometimes it's tortilla chips and salsa.
I don't really eat beef or pork enough to mention. Mainly all things chicken, fish, or scrimp. I also stay far away from processed foods and taters that aren't sweet taters. And bread. I don't eat bread.
No great reason for all of this other than it's just what I like to eat taste-wise, and I like how I feel after eating.

Give it a try. It works for me. I’m really not that hungry during the day except 0500 when I eat breakfast. I can not skip breakfast. Can’t do it. That’s just my hunger time.

At work, as soon as I sit down at 8AM I'm already antsy to go to lunch to break the day up and move a little.
But on weekends when I'm busy outside doing outside stuff, sometimes I don't even think about eating all day. Many Saturdays I go 7am to dark without eating anything if I am really busy.
Inactivity causes me to eat. Being busy brings on natural fasting.

I only do it 14 hrs. Go to the Y at 6:45 am, eat breakfast about 9 am making sure to eat the protein before the fruits and carbs, eat dinner around 5:30 pm. Drink 80-100 oz water every day and more if working/exercising outdoors. This is a good start for extending your fast time if needed.
