Fans not being loud and involved during games

Has anyone else noticed this? I go to 2-3 games a season and over the past 4 or 5 years I’ve noticed that I am one of the only ones in my area standing and screaming every 3rd down. I even get mean looks from fellow Clemson fans while I’m screaming. I thought it was common knowledge you get loud on 3rd down. I try to scream the majority of the time we are on defense. I understand some older people not being able to do that but if you’re able what’s the problem?

I know the answer! On big 3rd downs, we crank up some loud music that folks

either start dancing to or listening to. When the music ends as the opponent breaks the huddle, no one is yelling - because they've been dancing/listening...

Interesting. Probably something to this. I mean, not the dancing/listening,

but no one is trying to shout over the loudspeakers. Then when they stop, you have to quickly get energy up.
Hmm.

I think for a game like this, anyone that is healthy enough needs to stand for every down. There are so many TV timeouts to sit to take a load off. To your question, I think part of it is too many people looking at their phones. Like sitting, keep your phone in your pocket except during timeouts, halftime etc...We only have 7 home games a year, make the most of each one.

you have to just set the standard and ignore everyone. Those that are actually fans will follow suit. A lot of the time, it's just people that haven't been to a game in a really long time or they have families and they just need to see someone else doing it first to get out their funk.
There is also the empty stadium after returning from Halftime. I even remember empty seats all over during the FSU game in 2023 well into the 3rd.It was actually a reason I felt we lost the game. We lost the crowd and the advantage.

To stand up of yell to the guy who stands up waiving his arms up and down trying to get people motivated but doesn't yell a single thing. no noise
Just waves his arms around like a mute monkey.

Some fans are uppity and only come to the game as a social function or a way to flaunt their wealth and others are so old that getting that excited might kill them.

Back when I was a student back in the early ,70;s I would go to the football games and all students would yell so much that it wasn't unusually foe students to come to class on Monday morning with hoarse voices. And we would be lucky to qualify for a bowl.
I bet a lot of people on here don't even know how many games you have to win to even qualify for a bowl.
But I guess if you've won a national championship in the last 6 years, you all act more and more like USC jr.

You're taking my comment personally. I'm making a generalized statement. The same thing has happened at all the Stadiums since going to games became an upper class experience. The Kids of the big dollar people have gray hair and they own a bunch of tickets. I yell too. I'm also old enough to wonder if I'm going to pass out or give myself a stroke.

Sure, luxury boxes are. But in the regular stands? Have you looked around lately? LOTS of people who are not close to upper class.

It's been my experience that loudness and suspense go hand-in-hand.

The loudest game I ever went to was that triple-overtime thriller v. Miami in 2005(?). The decibels coming off the hill/student section were so painful I had to shove my left ear into my left shoulder socket.
That kind of loudness is rarely achieved through coercion. It just kinda has to happen.
I'm sure Saturday will be plenty loud given the suspense, though.

This has never been a problem for "big" games and outside of the South Carolina games, this is the first one we have had in several years.

I literally turn around and look at our own fans and do the get loud thing with my arms and yell at them. If you are going to sit there and watch you can do it from your #### couch.

To each their own but I took a lot of pride in making noise while seated.

I used to get up and scream my head off but I never wanted older fans, or fans with kids or fans who just didn't want to stand up all game to not enjoy their experience. So I sat if I noticed people behind me preferred sitting. Does it cost a decibel? I don't know, maybe. Small price to pay. I'd say I was still plenty loud.
But keep doing you! Ultimately the fans are a huge part of the experience. Be loud and proud and get your section into it. They'll be glad you did. Anyone who is mad at you for being loud purchased a ticket to the wrong event.
And hey...for anyone who can't handle the noise...bring some noise cancelling headphones. Makes a big difference.

It's a night game.
If you tire easily turn the light on your phone on and play an applause app on your phone
If you don't know how , ask somebody before kickoff. I'm sure there are many who can help
Just go the the " play store " on your phone and search applause app.
You can still be involved and help our tigers.
