A real offense. Jet sweep or two, creative running game, passes behind line scrimmage (basically part of the running game, as it was always described), screens, releases in the flats, use of different receivers, and some sort of semblance of tight end useage, esp. since one prominent radio commentator for Clemson said Betancour will be the greatest tight end in Clemson history.
Problem with all this being: where was all this last week.

From what I heard preseason, I think Riley is trying to get too fancy again. Wait to cue the "We're gonna get back to basics..." excuse.
While LSU was beating us with simple screen passes, our offense was too busy running deception plays that took too long to materialize.

We were running mid zone over and over and over again while LSU was much more creative in their run play designs and how to get the ball to their playmakers.
We had zero creativity and the painful irony is that a bunch of bubble and tunnel screens would have probably won us that game with how they were playing us.

Spoken like someone who did not actually witness the Tommy West era. He played six top 10 opponents in 5 seasons. Lost all of them by an average of 21 points.

I was there for west and ford and Hatfield and Bowden. Point was our offense sucked under west and sucks now.

Dominate the lines of scrimmage, reduce procedural penalties, win, and get through the game injury free.
The other stuff sounds nice, but in my opinion, these are the things that are going to truly matter.

We’ll win but it won’t be pretty. People will be left with a “ hollow feeling” and quite concerned about next week. National media will take notice. There will be internal grumbling and finger pointing.

You are dead on. Win both LOS’s you win the game. Folks including coaches make the game more difficult than it should be. If you can’t win at those 2 against teams with a pulse recruit better, which I believe Luke has been doing on the offensive side.
