We've really squandered a championship opportunity this yr

Oct 11, 2021, 4:18 PM

UGA is good, but we can beat them if our Offense has pulse. Bama doesn't looks a world beater this year and tOSU looks like they are down a bit too. Freakin' Iowa is the #2 team in the country for goodness sake. A typical Clemson team would definitely boat race them. Injuries and a non existent Offense has totally ruined what would have be a great opportunity to add another Championship trophy to the trophy case.

I totally agree with you. If DJ would have performed in our games this year, as he did with his two starts last year, I believe we would have had a chance to win it all this year. In prior post before season started, I predicted that we would win the Natty this year!!!

1964 (3-7) team of Frank Howard or the 1970 (3-8) team of Hootie Ingram or even the 1975 (2-9) team of Red Parker.

era, as well as the 2-9 1975 debacle season. The best thing Red Parker did for Clemson was bring Charlie Pell to town, which sequed into Saint Danniford.

Oh, and Red did have a pretty good Ice Cream Stand in downtown Clemson for awhile. :)

I think I saw the 75 team play 9 times. We had beaten Ga and GT in 74 and won 7 games (back then you didnt get a bowl for that). That team had great talent but was awful. I'm not sure how or why but they were just bad.

Yep. I went to the 0-56 Alabama game that year when Fuller also got hurt.

Probably the lowest level I’ve witnessed the program drop too. There were so many empty seats in Death Valley during that tenure towards the end. Fans were really feisty! The Tommy West era was just as bad but most of the fan base liked him as the man. Boy what ever happened to him? Never came back to DV for an appearance.

Started my run of season tickets for 33 years in 1975. Still have the stubs from Tulane which was a 17-13 loss in the season opener. First game was 1959 and saw a few home games every year prior to '75 except for seasons '67 - '71 while in the AF. The program wandered in the wilderness for a number of years between '68 and '76.

And btw, Death Valley had a sold out crowd every home game. I was there then. That's what being a Clemson Tiger fan is all about.

Go Tigers!!!

Couldn't that he said every year of a lot of teams that turn out to not be very good? "If we were better this year, we'd beat those teams."

We have a great defense so all is not lost. We need the offense to stop being so offensive and gain a few yards... I'm still not certain that we have a QB...We really should not give a #### if he can throw the ball 70 yards if he can't complete a pass at 5 yards...his lack of touch kinda reminds me of KB except KB had a little touch and didn't throw the ball so hard that folks could not catch it! Who cares about DJ's arm...his statistics (which means our offense) sucks!
