Every prospect considering UGA should

along with their parents listen to the pre-game rant by coach Kirby Smart. If that is to their liking then UGA is probably where they should be. If they have a little problem with it, then they probably should look elsewhere.

Just should be part of the things a family is considering. Lot of talk now days about culture. Well there are various types of culture. Karma is very difficult to deal with sometimes.

Unfortunately, many are willing to take a chance on culture because, if they don't like it, they now can leave with no downside. They will chase the new shiny object and the money

That's literally just any real coach. My high school coach was way worse than that. You are a major wuss.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't mind cussing.

Jan 10, 2023, 5:37 PM

But I wasn't impressed. Nothing of substance in his rant to me.

I also think the point can be made without every 2nd word being a cuss word. "#### this, #### that, #### them up".

At the same time, if that's what you need to go play well, then by all means go to UGA.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed.

To me, he just sounds like a common street punk with nothing meaningful to say.

Some of the best pregame speeches I’ve ever heard were the calmer ones that had true meaning.

I simply say a person should choose whichever program is to their liking and is similiar to the way they look at things. What kind of person was the principle at your high school? How about the superntendant? School board? I also played high school and div 1 on scholly. I dont think I have ever been called a wus :} Must be a word you learned from your high school coach.

Jan 10, 2023, 5:48 PM

but the mistake remains in assuming these kids or their parents are looking for father figures at this point, because most of them aren't. They want a quick meal ticket to NIL and NFL millions, and if the person who gets them there talks like a sailor with Tourette's, so be it.

Dabo's made a pretty good living rounding up the remaining ones who did want the father figure experience, but with NIL growing larger, that talent pool grows smaller.

Article is funny. Truthful in that younger people more comfortable with profanity. Profanity is one thing, but Kirby went beyond talking about f and their #####. Really crossed into devil land with GD. It was disappointing-he seems like a good guy but good guys don’t talk like that - ever.

Then you were very fortunate. I worked at GE for almost 20 years, during their best days under Jack Welch who was named CEO of the century, and he was EXACTLY like that...

So you don't think parents should want their kids playing for Kirby Smart because they might hear foul language. To be consistent, I'm sure you discouage young people from entering into military service. You know, to spare 18 year olds from hearing someone in authority drop "F" bombs.

In the military, especially in basic training, use of those words are now prohibited, AFDAWG. Not the case when I joined in 1970.

Re: Every prospect considering UGA should

Jan 10, 2023, 5:59 PM

Do you not think those words are frequently tossed around within the military? I spent 20 years in the military (retired 2004) and have worked on military bases since then. You are woefully misinformed if you think people don't routinely use foul language. My point is this: if an 18 year old shouldn't play for Smart because of the way Smart talks, in the name of consistency that 18 shouldn't work anywhere he may be exposed to that kind of language. Good luck with that.

Holy #### !! If you think these 18 years aren't using and hearing that kind of language on a daily basis, you are far removed from the situation.

I see your point and it could make an impact with some but from my previous experiences in a HS locker room, most HS coaches sound more like Kirby than Dabo so the shock value of Kirby's comments may not be as detrimental as you think.
