The NFL just makes up rules mid game..

Jan 23, 2015, 6:19 PM

depending on the ref. Bryant had 3 feet down (that's two feet down and football move with the extra step), and the ball didn't move when he hit the ground, it moved when he rolled over off the ground. They keep on calling it the Calvin Johnson rule, from a catch the refs robbed the Lions of back in 2010. That ruling wasn't based on what was written in the rule books, it was just a call made up mid game. If they're calling it the Calvin Johnson rule, that means it didn't exist until Calvin Johnson made that one catch they took away from him. Calling it the Calvin Johnson rule is just cover for the NFL, who had one ref make up a rule mid game.

They just need to go back to what catch used to be. Ball caught and controlled with two feet down. Enough with this football move stuff, that just leaves it up to each ref to make a judgement call. Bad call, bad interpretation, bad rule.

How exactly was it three "steps?"

I didn't know after you jumped in the air landing was considered steps. The play in question is much different from running a slant and taking steps after catching the ball. That's what makes it similar to the Calvin Johnson rule.

Dez jumped, landed and was immediately going to the ground. When he reached out (still in the process of making the catch) the ball hit the ground and came completely out of his hands.

End of discussion.

Because he caught the pass and had 3 feet hit the ground...

Jan 23, 2015, 6:59 PM

He jumped in the air after 3 feet hit the ground, then he leaped for the end zone. Since he already had 3 feet down. The ball didn't move until after he rolled over and was off the ground.

End of discussion.

It doesn't matter how many feet hit the ground. After he jumped he was going to the ground. In the process of completing this catch the ball hit the ground and he lost contact with the ball.

Frankly I don't know why this is still an issue seeing as it was almost two weeks ago. Not to mention there was plenty of time left and the cowboys wouldn't have won anyways.

Not gonna argue with you, refer to my original reply to...

Clemsonfan1851. I already made my comment about it. You don't know the Cowboys wouldn't have beat the Seahawks. The Cowboys beat them earlier this season. Let's just say Dallas did play Seattle, and Seattle had just as bad a game on offense as they did against the Packers. Seattle might not have had the opportunity to come back. Because unlike previous years the Cowboys aren't putting the game all on Tony Romo's shoulders by throwing 50 times a game. Major difference this season is the Cowboys stick with the running game, and also have viable number 2 and 3 receivers in Terrence Williams and Cole Beasley. That's just a hypothetical though.

End of discussion. Said all I wanted to say. Refer to my original reply, because I'm not going to repeat myself over and over. You don't have to agree with me and that's fine.

I'm a lifelong Cowboy fan( since the days of Don Meredith and Bob Hayes). That would be 1960.
Even I thought it was a catch.
But hey why are we talking about it 2 weeks after the game
when we have more important issues to deal with.
Yes,we all know it was a catch that was overturned, but if Tom Brady had thrown an underdeflated
football to Brandon LaFell at Foxsboro,it would have been ruled a touch down.
Gotta love those referees.

Cowboy fans : The struggle is real.

The crybucket is filled , then the pink pansies are watered and the crybucket returns to where it may be filled again. Every year , the pansies get pinker .

This might settle it. From NFL CASE book of A.R.

A.R. 8.12 GOING TO THE GROUND—COMPLETE PASS"First-and-10-on B25. A1 throws a pass to A2 who controls the ball and gets one foot down before he is contacted by B1. He goes to the ground as a result of the contact, gets his second foot down, and with the ball in his right arm, he braces himself at the three-yard line with his left hand and simultaneously lunges forward toward the goal line. When he lands in the end zone, the ball comes out.Ruling: Touchdown Team A.

Dez dropped it...

Jan 23, 2015, 11:02 PM

Now why can't these whiney Cowboy fans do the same ?
Has 20+ years of bad football really given ya that much gumption to argue ad nauseum a full 2 weeks after a call against your beloved team ? Oh my jeebus.
No wonder nobody likes the Cowboys.

your quote, "No wonder nobody likes the Cowboys."

The Dallas Cowboys are the number one valued franchise
for over 8 years running..now over 3.2 Billion.
Insider Business, or Forbes in Nov said it was closer to 5 Billion.
Annual revenue now over $560 million.
SO!
If nobody likes the Cowboys, who is generating all that revenue,
putting them in that number one spot?

Incidentally, about the time Jerry Jones took over, they
were losing $75,000/day. As much as people dislike him,
he obviously knows something about business development.

Fan of the Bills, Cardinals, and (Cowboys, because they are local)...
and the other NFL teams with my Clemson Tigers on their roster!
GO TIGERS!!!

Yes , Mexico has a very large population , and unfortunately they buy a lot of Romo jerseys at Wal Mart.
They are disliked by twice as many as the lost souls who would claim allegiance to such a piteous franchise as one who has been utterly irrelevant for now two full decades.
