Re-enlisted on Military Appreciation Day

Just want to send out a HUGE thank you to the Clemson Athletic Department and especially all my fellow Tiger fans for making last Saturday a day I will always cherish and never forget. I am a 16 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a rabid Tigers fan. A few months ago my wonderful wife contacted the athletic department about the possibility of me doing my final re-enlistment in the Navy on Military Appreciation Day. Clemson went out of their way to make a special day in my life even more special. They made it possible to perform my re-enlistment ceremony on The Hill next to the iconic Howard's Rock. I will be retiring from the Navy after 20 years of service in 2020. I've wanted to do that for a long, long time but I never thought it would actually happen. People ask me all the time why I'm such a huge Clemson Tigers fan and my response is always, "Because Clemson is different. Clemson is family. It's a special place with special people." No bigger example of that was how I was treated. When my time in the Navy comes to an end in 4 years I will always look at my final re-enlistment as the highlight of my proud Navy career. To all of my fellow Tiger fans and the whole Clemson Athletic Department I say "Thank you and God bless for making a dream come true for this old salt!"

It certainly feels good to know that there are folks like yourself and your family that offer support for the military. I'm confident in saying that you may have family members that have either served or are currently serving and I'm sure they'd say that it is a big motivating factor knowing that folks understand and appreciate the job we have to do when our nation calls us and I don't take that lightly at all. Thank you for kind words and especially your support. God bless you and your family!
GO TIGERS!!

Thank you fellow Tiger! I appreciate your service as well ol jar head! When I saw your mention of being an "old jar head" I said to myself, "He's going to get a kick out of this!" The officer that did my re-enlistment just so happened to be a Major in the Marine Corps! How ironic is that!? Thought you'd get a kick out of that. Super nice guy and I'm very thankful and honored that he went out of his way to do that for me.
