At the present time, for Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Southern Cal, there is no limit to spending. They can purchase whoever they want. Their reasonable limit to spending is far beyond our reasonable limit to spending. If there were any way to have kept our seven commits that have de-committed for money, we would have done so.
10 years ago we had the system figured out. We were smart in our recruiting assessments and we were able to land them and keep them.
Just being smart and making good assessments isn’t good enough now. In fact, signing someone early just makes them a target for richer schools. It’s almost like showing your cards.
Even less wealthy fan bases from the SEC, ACC and BIG can poach enough to hurt us on an individual basis for one or two players.
It’s going to take a lot of money to stockpile talent and the current system.
