As the U.S. just announced the surgical strikes of (3) nuclear facilities in Iran, we must now face the possibility of China and Russia coming to the aid of Iran. Should this happen, WW3 will commence, and it appears as if many of our football heroes may have to wear a different uniform. While the U.S. hasn't used the draft since Vietnam, the selective service program still exists, and a war of this magnitude would render more than a million people dead in the first two weeks. Of course, that's not U.S. fatalities alone, that includes collective estimations on the total death toll should WW3 occur. Let's just say that it's not looking too good right now.

Are you familiar with modern weaponry?
You think we’d even need to get on the ground in Vietnam today? No. You think Korea can really hold up today? If so, you’re nuts.
We took Iraq and Afghanistan before Joe gave it away. Not sure what you’re talking about.
We have no intention to destroy Iran. We are not at war. But acting like we couldn’t completely destroy them without setting foot on the ground is to ignorant.

We annihilated Iraq. We pushed Korea all the way to the Chinese border. We destroyed the Vietnamese army , that was a political snafu to withdraw.

I'm not sure what is considered 'taking' someone at this point, but the US changed the government in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US occupied Afghanistan for two decades and still has multiple military bases in Iraq. Maybe I just don't understand what you mean by 'take'.

Plane(s) have been flying from China to Iran. Flight plan was to Luxembourg... but it went to Iran. A large cargo plane. What was on the plane? Why are news networks ignoring this story? I guess there is no Trump hate in the story .

Those flights suddenly disappeared from the flight radar tracker as soon as they entered Iranian airspace which has zero air defense since Israel destroyed them all. I'm assuming that Israel or ahem, someone else shot them down because Israel has been patrolling the Iranian skies for a while.

We should hope that's what happen to them. IMO the US should stay out of the Iran Isarel war bc Isarel is taking most of the weapon the US has let them have and kicking the crap out of Iran with them. I wish we could give them the bunker buster bombs, but the entire world would know where they got them and that would put a huge frown on the faces of our allies and our enemies IMO!!!

In order for Israel to use the GBU-57, we would also need to give them the B2 Stealth Bomber because the GBU-57 was designed to only be carried by the B2 Stealth Bomber, and we would never give any other nation access to the B2. China already developed their TEMU version of it, but it won't be as nearly capable as the B2 much less the B-21 Stealth Bomber.

They could push it out the back of a C-130, which they have. Probably would also need to include a target acquisition console with the gift of a GBU-57.

First of all thank you for your service to our country and you obviously know a whole lot more about this than me. I never served in the military but my mom’s brother was killed serving in Germany in World War II and my dad and 5 of his brothers served in either World War II or Korea. When Iran got a nuclear bomb they would use it on Israel and the USA. There are no doubts about that. Could not let that happen and we did what we had to do. God bless you brother and the United States of America. Go Tigers!

The biggest threat wasn't Iran itself having a bomb. The real threat lies with the fact that more than 30 Islamic Jihadist Groups are sponsored by Iran, and could you imagine several nations across the globe being held hostage by Jihadists who have access to an explosive nuclear device? For all we know, Iran could have already supplied many of their proxies with the nuclear material to develop a device for a time such as this. Pray hard...

I think that the entire world knows that if Iran could build their own nukes it would cause a world nuke war, without saying so the rest of the world is glad that Isarel attacked Iran and destroying their ability to make their own nukes that they're not smart enough to have. I bet the world is relieved that Isarel is destroying Iran's ability to build a nuke but, they want everybody else to stay out of bc Isarel is capable of doing it without any help, and they were the ones most threaten by Iran having Nukes...

Economically, it makes no sense for either Russia or P.R.China to go to war in Iran’s behalf.
However, the American attack on Iran will have a long term consequence for us.
Already growing closer economically, Russia and PRC have much stronger mutual interest in dramatically expanding the non-military aspects of their relationship.
Whatever lingering suspicion between PRC and Russia had of each other (primarily from the Cold War era when most Americans were if the belief that the Cokd War was only about Russia vs USA -and- PRC vs USA) will be further diminished as the (to them) growing militancy of America ascends their ‘priority ladders.’

Economically, it makes perfect sense for both Russia and China to get involved on Iran's behalf. China receives most of its oil and gas from Iran. Russia has most of its oil refined in Iran and then reshipped to Rotterdam for resale. It being sold in Rotterdam allows for the skirting of sanctions and makes both parties a lot of cash flow.
Russia and China both have an economic interest because Europe, India, and the Middle East have long planned a counter to China's Belt and Road initiative and the removal of Iran from the picture is a must in order for that counter initiative to work. Essentially, India would stand to gain momentum in the region from an economic standpoint and China stands to lose a large portion of their manufacturing industry if the counter trade initiatives succeed. Yet, China and Russia are merely allies of convenience because the latest intel leaks from Russia accuses China of planning another land grab of Russian territory.
There is a reason why the U.S. just moved those B2 Bombers from Diego Garcia to Guam after they carried out their mission in Iran. Not only that, but they also added additional B2 Bombers to Guam after the fact. It's because we can expect some hostilities from China sooner rather than later. With 20 B2 Bombers carrying 18 GBU-31 Quick Sink Smart Bombs we could sink China's entire Navy within about 8-12 hours. Russia has been humiliated in Ukraine for sure, but Russia has reserved their best trained units and their best equipment for a time such as this. So, I would not be too excited about Ukraine's miracle in their conflict with Russia.

If PRC goes to war in behalf of Iran, then it will be America + Israel that will close the Straits of Hormuz.
It would take PRC too long to switch those refineries of theirs which refine Iranian grade crude over to Russian crude.
xxxxxxx
Doing the shut down Straits of Hormuz thing would also be terrible for Japan. So there’s a big de-motivating factor for us to shut down Straits of Hormuz.
Lots of moving parts, but PRC is not likely to gamble with their own economy in hopes that America won’t act to shut down Hormuz Straits because it would also hurt Japan. PRC is generally risk averse.

I don’t think WW3 will be won by boots on the ground. It will be fought with drones, missiles, bombs, and in the cyber realm. So…I don’t think there would be a draft…at least I hope not as the father of two sons (21 and 24). Unless the US is under the threat of direct invasion, I’d be inclined to help them ‘relocate’.

"You may fly over a land forever; you may bomb it, atomize it, and wipe it clean of life - but if you desire to defend it, protect it, and keep it for civilization, you must do this on the ground, the way the Roman Legions did - by putting your soldiers in the mud."
"The man who will go where his colors go, without asking, who will fight a phantom foe in the jungle and mountain range, without counting, and who will suffer and die in the midst of incredible hardship, without complaint, is still what he has always been, from Imperial Rome to sceptered Britain to democratic America. He is the stuff of which legions are made. His pride is in his colors and his regiment, his training hard and thorough and coldly realistic, to fit him for what he must face and his obedience is to his orders. He has been called United States Marine."
"A people [America] that does not prepare to fight should then be morally prepared to surrender. To fail to prepare soldiers and citizens for limited, bloody ground action, and then to engage in it, is folly verging on the criminal."

I don’t disagree with you…there was a time when all of that was true. WW2 was a noble cause…Vietnam was not, and it taught us some valuable lessons…too many Americans died needlessly. Short of a full scale invasion, there will never be another draft.

Ukraine vs Russia war has already disproved your view on ‘modern’ war.
Satellite guided weapons improve the aim of ordnance, but they do not compensate for quantity.
As Wermacht Chief of Staff General Frank Halder noted about one month into Germany’s attack on Soviet Union (which was ~ late July 1941) … at which point the Wermacht was killing Russians at a ratio of ~ 10 dead Russians for every one German, yet Russia kept sending new unit after new unit to fight the Germans - which losses to the Germans was unsustainable high already … (Halder said) ‘quantity has a quality all of its own.’
Mass use of old type munitions such as ‘blind’ artillery shells (which are more effectively than ever because aerial surveillance is used to quickly redirect the field of fire + the intensity of fire. This leads to unprecented lethality of ‘blind’ artillery as has taken place in the Russia / Ukraine war.
The other factor is the warring country’s production capacity to ‘outproduce’ and thus out-gun the other side. Russia produces more artillery shells than the combination of all other countries in Earth.
All of this is to support Chesty’s knowledge that, the popularized belief that modern war is somehow clean and high tech - and thus obviating the historical needs of a conquering -or- a defending territory by having human be8ngs actually occupy that territory, is plain wishful thinking nonsense.

Thank you President Trump.
It had to be you.
The left would have allowed Iran to continue its path to becoming a nuclear power and shortly after they would " wipe Israel off the face of the earth " as the Ayatollah has made perfectly clear time and time again.
This act would of course necessarily brought the United States into the war.
Unless of course you have a Democrat president of a party that has become deeply antisemitic which gives no such securities that it will defend Israel.
Without US support Israel will fall. There just isn't enough force to hold off the multitudes of Islamic countries who will obviously hasten to partner with Iran.
They would not necessarily even need the involvement of China , who of course in a worst case scenario could attack the US from within utilizing the numerous sleeper cells who who been widely reported to be here in massive numbers courtesy of a wide open border.

If you're calling me a dumb-arse for pointing out the obvious, then I am guessing that you're not too savvy on the way this all works. If you bomb a nation, they usually retaliate, and so do their allies that hold a vested interest in said nation.

Can't say I blame him then, because I get frustrated whenever people post a basketball or baseball related post on the football board. However, another world war will impact football more than likely.

Russia won't go to war with us over Iran. They already have their hands full. China at the most helps Iran without sending any troops. Maybe some material support? I am more worried about terrorist attacks.

AI to the rescue.
The first and only Iranian-born player in the NFL is Shar Pourdanesh. He was an offensive lineman who played for the Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Oakland Raiders from 1996 to 2001. He was born in Tehran, Iran, and his family left the country during the 1979 revolution.

Thanks for the football input. I would like to believe that a possible global conflict could end football altogether should one occur. So, in a way it's a football POAST>

Hence why I stated that our football heroes may soon be wearing a different uniform. Much like in WW2 whenever football completely came to a halt because our boys were fighting in Europe, Africa, and Asia.

WW3 will knock out most of the high tech equipment on all sides of the war and will eventually become a war of attrition. Meaning, millions will be drafted and unfortunately tens of millions if not more will perish.

I am sure "The Great Negotiator" already had the pledges not to retaliate by these 2 nations. He doesn't play game unless he already knows he will win. We good! This is NOT the big war, whether you want to call it WW3 or Armageddon.....whatever. This is just cleaning up the messes left by Obama and Biden, which had to be done surgically and professionally, which we are doing. Now it's time for the Iranian people to rise up and take back their country from these insane dictators.

This could be true, but did Trump negotiate the surrender of Ukraine and Taiwan in order to achieve this feat? I certainly hope not. We cannot allow China to control the people of Taiwan because it will not end there. Also, I agree with cleaning up previous messes of other administrations. However, China, Russia, and Pakistan all rely on Iranian Oil/Gas. This may end up getting messy in the end.

Jesus H christ, there will be no draft, China has better tools in its belt to hurt the US than direct military conflict, we both have nukes you dodo. On the other hand Iran can mine the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off about 20% of the World's oil Supply, making Russia very happy and China not so much.. This will be a proxy war where nobody wins, all because of the lie that Iran was developing weapons of mass destruction. If they wanted Nukes, they would have them by now. Does many of these sound familiar? The Amwerican Empire is getting desperate, while china sits back and takes over the role as world police.

Not in the beginning. Once each side has crippled each other's technology on the battlefield, then it will turn into a meat-grinder where it becomes a war of attrition. This is the likely scenario.

Exactly, and they actually had Chinese Police Departments here on U.S. soil not so long ago. They were reported to the U.S. State Dept. Unsure if they were ever shut down or not, but I'm never surrendering to a CCP Police Officer. He'll be a stiff and smell lump of flesh headed back across the ocean for proper burial if one of them ever tries arresting me.

Russia and China both benefit tremendously from Iranian oil/gas. Further, the I.A.E.A report uranium enrichment up above 80% which is not the required levels for peaceful usage. Peaceful usage and even research purposes are enriched at below 20%. If it cost more to enrich uranium at higher levels, why would they be spending the unnecessary funding to enrich at levels well beyond peaceful usage? Hey Tigerbalm1, I have some ocean front property for sale in Wyoming if you're interested.

Those are the 100% pure facts. There were no good options really. You cannot trust a nation that sponsors 69% of the world's terrorist to hold true to any agreements.
