Double Standards

Feb 3, 2022, 7:26 AM

It is interesting how many people have been up in arms about the young men that decommitted from Clemson after our coaching changes, but who are quick to embrace Dudley and Story. Yes we should embrace these young men but there should be no ill will towards Everette, Campbell, Kanak, and even Sabb. Like Dudley and Story these young men decommitted after coaching changes. I know there were some rumblings with Sabb, beforehand, but I believe that had Venables stayed that Sabb would be a Tiger right now.

There were many on here that crucified Brent Venables for continuing to recruit Kanak, but celebrated Story following Eason. They criticize Everette, Campbell and Sabb, but they praise Dudley. I don't care which you do. Just be consistent. All of these young men were making what they thought were their best decisions for a fluid situation. Personally, I don't understand the ones that want to hold them to a rigid standard.

And I thought this was about the left wing media vs the right. Teach me to read things through before commenting!

The three recommits from IMG had nothing to do with a coaching change. Perhaps educate yourself before spewing nonsense?

None of them decommitted until Venables left, so why don't you educate me? Why did they leave? With Sabb there seemed to be some uncertainty because of the visit to Michigan/OSU, but I didn't hear anything on Everette or Campbell.

Regardless, if you want to be mad about Sabb, Everette and Campbell that's fine. Just hold Dudley and Story to the same standard.

All of them decommitted after BV left for Oklahoma though...

They were clearly related to the coaching change. What are you talking about?

And good riddance since Clemson is more than one (pretty dang good) football coach, I hope.

None of them followed BV to Oklahoma, so your point was not made. Story followed "his guy", like he said in his own words, and Dudley did not want to take his personal beliefs and values down to S. Beach just to follow Crystalballs!!! Get real man, not close to the same.

You beat me to it Bareftn and saved me a lot of writing. The 4 that decomitted from Clemson (1 following Venables) are terrible and the 2 that decomitted from other schools (1 following Eason) and signed with Clemson are greater than sliced bread. You can't have it both ways. They are 18/19 year olds who changed their minds for whatever reason. Even 2 of the Clemson decommits have lost their DCs and looks like one could lose his HC. There's enough BS to go around for all without bashing kids.

never really "ours" to begin with.

Now, it is true that some kids like to play recruiting "games". Butt, that is entirely different than decommitting when the very coach that you built a relationship with leaves for a position at another school. I got no real issue with the kid following his coach in that situation.

However, you would have to be really naive not to believe that some kids lately have been "purchased" by certain schools via huge NIL deals. And, as much as we may want to beyotch and moan about it, it is legal at the present time to do so, apparently.
