Likely headed to the sweet sixteen as they will be a big favorite over Oakland.
Keatts knows how to play the NIL game, and the style of play is something that would be attractive in Lexington.

Can Ktucky afford the buyout? Lots of money to change basketball coaches.

Well with coaches never say never. All depends on the cash offered. I would have never thought Odom would have left Wake to coach SC.

This is what the coots say every time they are searching for a football coach but is never true. College coaches are already rich so it is not just the money. Most successful/established coaches won’t risk their career trajectory at a place where it is difficult to win or sustain success.

By your logic why do they coach at all past a certain point? How much money do people really need? Less than they already have. How much do they want? The answer is usually more than they already have - no matter how much that is. Yes, money is still a huge motivator in a coaches decision making.

If money was the primary motivation, why did the coots have to settle for Muschamp and Beamer? They have SEC money so they should have had their pick of coaches. Coaches build a career seeking a job at an elite destination. They will not jeopardize their career goals by taking a job at a place where it is very difficult to win given they can make similar money at a school where success is more likely.

The OP was about Keatts going to Kentucky and the reply, that I replied to, was about Odom to SC. I’m not sure how this detour into Carolina football is relevant but it doesn’t really make your point. How do you think Carolina got coaches like Holtz and Spurrier? They flexed that SEC money. And while he might not have worked out, by all accounts Tanner was all-in on Muschamp. Muschamp was easily the biggest assistant available when he went to Florida and Tanner thought he was ready to succeed at Carolina. He was not a value hire.
There is also relativity. Carolina can’t hire a head coach who is already actively successful at the SEC level because every other SEC school has just as much money as them. All they’re going to do, if they try, is drive up their salary for their competitor which in turn resets the marketplace for them. Beamer is their attempt to find a Dabo.

Hoops is exactly where we will shake the coot connection. It's a far easier sport to turn fortunes around quickly than football, especially in the NIL world and free agency. Clemson is a legit behemoth today in college athletics - our brand has never been bigger or brighter. The right coach who is chasing mountaintops and believes in Clemson's potential can soar here. There's no place like this on earth, and we are obviously an extremely loyal institution inside and out. This ain't your father's coaching gig anymore. If the position were to open up, you're going to see just how coveted a job this is out there.

3 NCAATs in 7 years isn't bad. That is probably including a Sweet Sixteen...

I didn’t say it was bad. What I will say is though you don’t have to look real hard to find how the Wolfpack fan base felt about Keatts pre acc tournament run. He was definitely on the hot seat.Short of a NCAA tourney championship Kentucky if the job came open would not seriously consider Keatts imo.

This is all based on a freak talent at 275 lbs and a transfer coming home that is a great guard.we beat them 3 times last year.
What a joke.
