Years ago Bob McAdoo supposedly didnt like some instructions for former Clemson coach Tates Locke who was his coach in the NBA. It was claimed he said he didnt have to because he made more money than Tates. THis making more is recent to college though.

According to sources around college football, Mensah received a deal from Duke that is believed to pay him $8 million over two years. A $4 million annual average would make him the highest-paid player in college football history, unofficially. A year ago, the going rate for a top-of-the-market quarterback like Cam Ward, who went from Washington State to Miami, or Riley Leonard, who left Duke for Notre Dame, was a little less than half that.
Mensah set the bar this year at 8 million for two years. Cade's agent certainly argued that his client is as talented and worth as much. Hearing one year deal for 4 million. That will be the standard for most top tier QB's moving forward and Cade's numbers are certainly in the top 10 or even top 5.

If he isn’t making more than Riley, he has to be dang close.
