Do we speed up the tempo or keep it slow against OU?

Dec 28, 2014, 12:19 PM

Given our lack of depth at quarterback and the slow pace we've run without Watson, I would think we use clock and run the ball and sprinkle in an occasional deep ball that can serve as a punt should it get picked. Lots of wildcat.

With the infusion of new blood coordinating the offense and with coaches and players referring to a faster tempo in practice these last two weeks, might they be game planning to go go go?

Do what works, Cole looked better this season in the hurry up.

When did we do that with success?

Not sure I remember us doing that after the Georgia game. It seemed like the tempo slowed dramatically from last year when Cole was in.

The more Cole thinks, the worse he plays. Go fast!

Up tempo

Cole struggles when given time to think between plays, so if we go uptempo it will help him be successful. Cole is physically not a bad quarterback but he seems to struggle with the mental aspect. The quicker they go the more he will have to rely on his physical strengths.
