Do we know who is starting at Catcher

This season? I talked to someone today who said they thought Williams was going to start first base and Beer would start in right field.
I know we still have a week to go but just curious if they released an idea of what the lineup might look like.

I think Williams will hit 5th to protect Beer so he can hit cleanup and see some quality pitches. I think Davidson will hit 3rd though since he was 2nd on the team in home runs as a freshman last year. Davidson-Beer-Williams is a pretty dangerous 3-4-5

Wilkie C,Williams 1B,Greene 2B,Davidson SS,Byrd 3B,Beer Jolly Cooper corner outfield and DH,Teodosio or Wharton CF. Pitching is unsettled. Higginbotham,Strider,Miller,Hennessy,Crawford are in the mix for weekend starters and possibly Griffith but believe he is more likely a setup man for Gilliam out of the pen. Weatherly may start some midweek. Think we will see several starters before they settle on Friday,Saturday,Sunday starters. Plenty of options but very little consistency so far.

i think that is the best move. Leave Beer out there in Right and Williams at 1st. First base isn't an easy position to play. That short hop will eat a man up if they aren't use to it. It takes time to learn that position especially when you haven't played it your whole career. When you have played outfield your whole life its tough to move inside the diamond. I just think Beer isn't comfortable there. I know Monte said it wasn't because of his defense then that leads me to believe its Beer having trouble with catching balls being thrown to first. Whether they are short hops or maybe even pickoff throws.

You think Byrd moves to 2B? Greene has been solid there. His bat isn't anything special, he gets on base at a decent clip and has played great defense, but Byrd, statistically was almost identical in every major offensive statistic to Greene.

I heard they are being careful with Chris’ shoulder and will put Wilkey at catcher until Williams’ shoulder is at 100%, so I’d guess that put Williams at first and Wilkey behind the plate

I personally don't know why they want Beer to move to first. I get that that is probably his position at the next level, but we don't have a ton of bodies to play in the outfield. I'm sure Kier Meredith and a few other freshman will prove very valuable down the road though.
I'm obviously not a coach, but Beer in right, Williams at first, and Wilkie catching seems to make a lot of sense, especially with how well Wilkie played at the end of the year and Williams coming off shoulder surgery. But there's a reason Monte doesn't pay me to be on staff.

centerfield will be critical to replace Chase Pinder-- he covered a lot of ground for the slower Beer in right field -- plus his hitting lead-off to get on base
