When Klubnik beats out DJ in the Spring and DJ heads west. TP will probably leave too, which apparently wouldn’t be much of a loss. Klubnik is a stud , but we won’t have much behind him.

You can't be so quick to make the assumption someone will be ready for the step up in competition in year 1. We've been spoiled by that.

He may ,or may not use the portal, but the quarterback is not the only stud screwing up this offense this year.

Since there is rarely a Watson or a Lawrence in the country the question is: Is it better to recruit 2 talented 3 star kids that have the tools and can learn or 1 kid who is a 4 or 5 star who may leave when he sits on the bench? Times have changed in football and basketball and prima donnas play or leave.

Well , I think regardless of your strategy, Dabo was neglectful of not trying to build a little more quality depth at QB after the spring game. At that time, they had no idea TP would even available this year , so we were a sprained ankle away from starting a preferred walk on. We were 4 or 5 deep with capable QBs a short time ago and now we’re forced to stick with a guy whose not even in the top 100 QBs almost half way through the season.

I was underwhelmed at the spring game when it was 14-13 at the end. Now, I see that is who we are.

The only way to get a quality backup QB out of the portal is if some kid loves College Football and wants to win a championship.

We got a local kid play one year who played four years as a backup at Stanford. Those dudes are like unicorns.

It is not much easier recruiting a kid out of HS who will be the backup as well. Chase Brice did it for a few years because he wanted to play at Clemson. He then went on to start at two different schools.
