DB Target plans to commit the same day as the All-In Cookout

Jul 9, 2015, 1:50 PM

I haven't heard this name in awhile, but Athlete Korey Charles says he will commit on July 17th. I don't know much about him or if he will even be at the cookout but I find this interesting.

Good chance. Seems to have a bunch of national offers for

a 3* ranking... Irrelevant, as far as I'm concerned, but somewhat abnormal considering...

If he's not there I expect him to announce for Miss St, could definitely be wrong here though

That's what I was thinking. I just find it odd he is committing on the same day as the cookout

I know he's taken several visits to Mississippi state, so I don't know if he's dropped us or anything. But they do seem to be trending

Great eye man! Here's a bio on him....

I really think it's Clemson or FSU and it's good that his mom likes Clemson.

ATH- Korey Charles 5-11 175 Tallahassee, FL North Florida Christian

#18 ATH # 178 overall by Rivals. In 2014, KR TD, 1120 rush yds and 10 TDs with 19 catches for 205 yds. In 2012, had 89 tkls, 3 INTs. Attends the same HS as Travis Blanks did. Quickly moving up some boards. Orlando NSFC All Combine Team member 4.46 40, 33 1/2 vert, 10.2' broad jump. Named to the 2A All State Team. Crystal ball: 100% CU fwiw (as of May 2015). Camped at FSU and visited there twice. Attended 2014 All In Cookout. Visited for Syr game and stopped by last summer. Jeff Scott is his main recruiter. Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2645970/korey-charles

The latest- As of May 2015- FSU making a huge push. Stopped by FL. https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1746396 . Attended FSU Jr Day in February, visited there in April, and asst coach Charles Kelly stopped by to see him in late April.

"I don't really have a favorite at this point," Charles said. "I just want to concentrate on improving every day and worry about all of that when the time comes. But I do appreciate any offer that comes my way." “Every one on my list is even right now. I have Florida State, Clemson, Florida, North Carolina, and Mississippi State still on my list.”

FSU the one to beat after his visit there? “I enjoy spending time with coach Kelly,” Charles said. “We developed a relationship last year and we talk all the time. He’s a really good coach.” While he wouldn’t name any leaders Charles did say he has a top group of schools. “Florida State is still on my list,” Charles said. “Every one on my list is even right now. I have Florida State, Clemson, Florida, North Carolina, and Mississippi State still on my list.”Florida State had been looking at Charles on the defensive side of the ball, but that has changed. “Coach Kelly was telling me that he talked to the receivers coach and that they watched my film,” Charles said. “He was saying that they both like me on both sides of the ball. It makes me feel good that I can choose what I want to do and make my own opportunity.” http://recruiting.scout.com/story/1520451-korey-charles-talks-fsu-junior-day-visit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPABZW4ciPo

"Charles has a great connection with the Florida State staff, especially assistant coach Charles Kelly. Kelly was one of the first coaches to evaluate Charles as a defensive back and an athlete. Charles recently told Warchant that FSU now likes him as an athlete for both offense and defense - although defense could be his best position going forward. This still looks like an FSU/Clemson battle at this time. Charles plans to check out the 'Noles spring game later this year and isn't in a hurry to make any kind of decision.

After visiting CU had this to say, "I love my trip to Clemson! It has to be the best visit so far! I can't wait to go again," said Charles.

Charles said that the fans and the Clemson coaching staff also impressed him on his visit.
"Well the fans are very friendly and really into Clemson I love that, and I love the coaches they treated me real good."

His mother also said that she likes Clemson a lot. At the end of the conversation, Charles let it be known that Clemson is leading now for his recruitment.

Awesome news here. He's one of our few highly-rated targets with decent size left for this cycle. I wouldn't mind seeing us add Robbie Robinson as well.

He's from the same high school as Travis Blanks...is he not? That could be a plus, too.
