Dabo's commitment policy? I understand his policy but

Jun 6, 2012, 10:33 PM

has he quit recruiting a player who wasn't jerking us around? The only ones that come to mind are Marlin Lane, Pagan and now this kid. They all had situations where they were looking around and seemed to be playing games. Have there been any others? Are there exceptions, such as Gallman, if they talk to him first and say they are 100% but he wants to go with his friends, RN & DK?

In regards to Dabo recruiting other schools commits, they could say thanks but no thanks, as I'm sure Dabo would tell his guys to do. I have no problem with that. Other schools are not going to say "well shoot, he just committed to Clemson so we can't recruit him anymore."

Now that is a problem for Miami to deal with, and not Dabo. I know what you're saying but, that is a horse of a different color. If Miami don't have their own rule in place to keep their recruits from straying. And if they come into Dabo's pasture, rope and ride it. Thats the way that recruiting game is played. I know that it sounds to be a double standard. And that's b/c it is!!!

This is real life of college football
What's mine is mine, what's yours I want
Dabo tries to make sure that the recruit when he commits is committed to Clemson
Recruits who have given a commitment to another school does not have to come visit Clemson if they are committed to the school they gave a commitment to they can thanks but no thank you.
Its up to the player to be committed not the coach
Not the same showing no disrespect but recruiting is like dating, committed commitment only comes in to play after they sign and just like being married that's not always for ever
Some recruits like to commit early to a big time school only to get more schools looking at them
Remember these are HS students 17-18 years old some who have never been more than 50 miles away from where they live much less been on the campus of a major college

It all comes down to keeping your word. Older gentlemen would tell you sometimes all you have is your word so make it count.

Dabo has always said that he does not want any kid to commit unless he was 100% all-in!! It has been mentioned many times that the staff wants whats best for the recruit. The pressure to give a early verbal commit is the reruits choice. Only if you are 100% does this staff wants the early verbal and then they expect you to honor your word period. So I have no issue with the way Dabo and his staff does thing.

Exactly!!! I have applied that rule my entire life. My mothers most important thing she preached to her kids her whole life. She always said that if a persons word wasn't any good. Then that person wasn't any good, and they couldn't ever be trusted. Life has futher taught me that she was absolutely 100% correct in all things involing people.

Different situation altogether. These kids were perusing other schools after they had given their commitments to Clemson. That doesn't sound to committed to me, and it didn't to Dabo either. If I was to tell that I was coming over to help you out on Saturday. I don't show up and you discovered that I was over at Billy Bob's helping him. Would you believe me If I committed to coming over to helping you on Sunday. You most likely wouldn't, and you would make plans on having someone else there to help you out. And any commitment I make to you from then on wouldn't mean to much to you. And it doesn't to Dabo either with these kids that continue to look around. To me personally. I think that Dabo has a solid recruiting plan with the best interest of the FB program in place. Yes I understand that these are 18/20 year old kids. But business is business no matter how old your clients are.
