Dabo would be here if this was more than an interview

I don’t believe Venables would check out to Oklahoma with Dabo out of town. Just don’t believe he’s that kind of person.

I can promise you Dabo has had plenty of communication w BV

I would bet my life savings BV came to Dabo whenever this appeared to be happening and was upfront and honest. Dabo probably said “make sure you get what you want…”
No reason for Dabo to be in town.
Besides he is interviewing for Las Vegas job today

What kind of person is that? When you interview for a new job do you bring your old boss with you to the meeting? I’m confident Coach V is being straight with Dabo; but it’s not his place to be part of any negotiations with another team. No one has made any public announcements Dabo will be here when he needs to be here.

My comment is about Dabo not Venables

DABO WOULD BE HERE talking to players and coaches. When one of the top managers leaves, the CEO is there telling everyone the new plan and letting everyone know it’s not the end of the world. That’s been my experience in the business world for the past 30 years.

The OU president is here as well. I do not think he would fly out here if it was just an interview.

Why would you need that many people to interview someone who already worked for you for 11 years and was your associate head coach at one point?

Because this is about to be the biggest hire in University of Oklahoma history.

Dollar wise, at least.
It’s a huge deal.
It shows a lot of professionalism for the AD and president to be there. It shows Brent that they really want him and are serious about this.
If I were in BV’s shoes, that would carry a lot of weight with me.

When Brent turned them down, they couldn’t believe it. He said you wouldn’t understand unless you’ve been here. So they hoped on their jet and now he’s showing them why he won’t leave. They’ll understand.

The president is not the same as when Brent was there. I'm not speculating anything or even pretending I know what is going on. That being said if you just had a high-profile split with head coach who up and left you I think as a president you would do your due diligence and fly to the house of a potential head coach and speak with them before flying them out to your campus. The whole process seems quite unusual. However I do know that the Oklahoma AD flies out to pick up any new coach and flies them back to campus. He has done that with every hire he's made although it's only been a few because retention at Oklahoma is quite high.

watching Dabo and the Clemson program develop to where it is today. Mainly that everyone - the AD, President of the University, the BOT, the booster club, and even the University's secretary's and janitors must all be rowing in the same direction with the same goal and vision when it comes to the football program and its culture. There can be no dissension between any of the OU power brokers because if there is - Brent ain't leaving for that kind of environment.
My guess is that BV has made this a clear requirement and that both the OU AD and President showed up to his home is to convey they are, to borrow a phrase, "All In".
To me the big fly in that ointment is the influence that Bob Stoops still wields at OU. Stoops is apparently still involved with things at a certain level and certainly has "his people" still littered throughout the program. What happens if Brent wants to do something with the OU program that Godfather Bob Stoops doesn't like? This may sound trivial to some but would be a very real concern for me if I were looking at a job there.

the narrative while he’s out of town. No. If Venables was a done deal, Dabo would be here now.

It might not be a done deal you're correct. However I do not think that Dabo would not interfere in the process. When it becomes final and official he will be here. But he seems like the type of person who's going to let the process play out.

He's doesn't need dabo. BV a grown man. What he needs is his lawyer there. So they don't slip something in the contract.

Looks to me like a full court press recruiting visit. Really makes it look like they are still trying to sell him on it. Usually the candidate visits the location not vice versa.
