I read him totally differently today than his last few. He looked either broken the last few or rattlesnake-defensive.
Maybe it’s just me, but I saw a guy that is pissed and wanting to fight back. Normally I cringe at his rants, but the referee rant was old Dabo to me.
The instincts thing: don’t know what to make of that. But I’m hoping, though I don’t even know what I’m hoping for.

That was the most interesting thing to me - his comment about wanting to do what he thinks is right; stop listening to others. It must be something behind the scenes we don’t see, because I haven’t noticed any major changes to his coaching/program philosophy. Would love to know Hoods thought on Dabos comment.

Yeah....
What has Dabo done differently the last few years that he has not done before....
I hate to say it, but you could say hire outside coaches (not his guys), not promote from within the program, pay players, use the portal.
Those are just very outside view points.... I have no idea about things he has done differently inside the building behind closed doors.
Maybe he will go all-in on his way, and if it doesn't work, he will move on knowing he did things his way and be able to hold his head up high.
Perhaps.... he will quit taking advice from all of the Tigernet posters.

Often times high achievers are this way. Especially when they’ve been to the top of their field. They know what it takes, and when that is questioned they get defensive, 9 times out of ten they are right.
But high achievers also know when something is wrong. In defense, early on, at the sight of pushback, they will bite back. But if they are smart, they WILL come to terms with that. The “wrong” may not be what the naysayers are preaching, but they will internalize and correct.
Maybe that’s what is happening here, who knows.

Hot Sawce has no idea what a high achiever is. Don’t confuse him with big words

I said last week that I was noticing a change in his attitude. Starting 1-3 and not being able to defeat D1 schools for the past year or so has a way of humbling a coach with his pride and accomplishment.
But now, as you say, he’s more than just humbled. He’s mad. Let’s hope it results in changes needed. I was pleasantly surprised at the offense we saw last weekend. Now if the defense will wake up, we’ll be in business. Most of our offensive problems were the result of poor game planning. I can say the same for our defensive game plans. A few changes would make them much better.

standard operating procedure. If people are dead set of poking holes then you'll probably hate them and want him to be more like Bill Belichek. Now i understand fans from other teams that hate his rants b/c they're going to always want to poke holes and find ways to argue his points. So i get that. If he was the gamecock coach i'd be on that boat for sure b/c i'd be looking for it. But i loved his "tweet that" type rants. Its part of his personality that is all his own. And he's taken the heat and the critique for him not being a robot and toeing the line of "political correctness" in the realm of coach speak.

Oh I loved “tweet that”. I don’t hate some of the rants, cringing at them is more of “why’s he mad about that?” (The unprovoked 15 minute “fire me” rant)
Maybe I cringe because I see a bit of myself in him. Angry at drivers, angry at faucets that you have to conjure water out of at gas stations. I’m set off by meaningless, stupid stuff. Call me names? Don’t care. Punch me? Eh, whatever. But do NOT take more than a half second to take off from a red light.

Oh great! His attitude was slightly different after draining the university for $70 million the last 5 years. Gosh golly gee, the future is looking brighter than ever before Billy!

If that’s what you got out of my statements, you need reading comprehension 101. No offense, but you seem skewed towards finding fault in anything even partly positive, which my post barely is.

I think he is pissed with the fans who don’t appreciate his body of work. I think I agree with him.
