A taunt is when you know (or think you know) that you have all the cards and want a certain outcome. I've felt for some time this season that Dabo is taunting the university with is stupid buyout. Tired of winning, I'll go coach somewhere else, these are statements not made by someone who doesn't want to be fired, but rather someone who wouldn't mind if they were.

I didn’t take it as a taunt… although I did think it was somewhat of a stupid thing to say. Even if it is the truth, I wouldn’t put that out there for my players or recruits to hear.

I don’t think it was a taunt. I think it was more of a “diffusing” comment where you say what you know others are thinking to make it sound like you are being empathetic and feeling their pain. It is meant to take some heat off.

This is a technique he uses very well…

This is probably correct, he smiled sheepishly after he said it. After the story about thinking TDP was going to fire him.
