very interesting—and a little awkward. He’s never been at the post game press conferences before. I think the pressure is going up on Dabo to make some changes

The thing is what does Dabo thinks behind closed door versus what Neff may think. Neff is not a football guy. Dabo is but hasn't looked like it lately.

Dabo likely invited him, if only to show solidarity over the interference call.

Neff knows his place better than many of the posters here.

Yes, that’s one theory but some podcasters close to the program have another theory.

That’s pretty likely. Or Dabo wanted him there to let him answer if anyone asked if he thought his job was in question. I could see him doing that too. And yes, Neff knows his place better than a lot of poasters on here.

Maybe He was there to show support to the coach with more wins and Championships than any in Clemson history. Players are to blame for the loss!

You mean the scrubs Dabo has brought to us and his failures to go into the portal to get better ones while the rest of the ACC uses it and passes us by.

I don't know. You can't give the coach credit for the wins and championships and then blame the players for the losses. Head coach gets paid enough and has enough support within the institution to take the heat resulting from the quality of play we've seen recently.
My theory is that the AD felt his time was better spent around the coaching staff and around the team. Far more meaningful to see/hear first-hand.
Also - AD is probably one of the only people, besides McCorvey, the head coach can consult with on the most sensitive matters.

The head coach gets paid off of what he produced! When He started as head coach He was the least paid in the conference and He has made Clemson far more than they will ever pay him. Yes even Dabo will have to take responsibility, which He has after every game. However no coach missed a tackle and no coach dropped passes or missed blocks. The entire country thought this was a championship team! It’s mind boggling. But are you a fan of the team or a fan of you being a fan of a winning team. Dabo has earned a chance to straighten it out! That means years not half a season.

I’m thinking he was there to actually see first hand how Dabo would handle the questions. He probably knows fans are getting tired of his condescending remarks to us when he gets asked the tough ones

Sure he is getting emails from disgruntled fans and he could see the empty metal bleachers shining in the sun on Homecoming yesterday.

In my opinion I think it is inappropriate for the coach to make remarks about getting fired in a press conference. It’s almost like he was daring Neff to say something. It was an embarrassing loss for sure, but I think that kind of talk is uncalled for.

He tried to judo that question by putting Neff on the spot…it wasn’t quite as bad as his “tired of winning” lecture from earlier in the year but it wasn’t great. Dabo is untouchable still but he doesn’t have to rub it in Neff’s face like that!

Not one of us is dumb enough to say things like that on our job or in front of our employer. Dabo wants out with his money bag.

Neff and the BOT should force Dabo to fire assistants and take a certain number of portal players. If he fails to comply, fire him with cause. That could possibly be a way out of the buyout .

Maybe one of us. I handed the keys to my plant to my regional manager one time and told him he could be plant manager if he wanted. We reached an understanding that day. He was an a$$hat and thought he was going to ride me and stay in my face. I was well established as one of, if not the best plant manager, in the company. The plant was also in a location that they had always struggled to get people to move to. He knew he needed me there and so did I. After that, he left me alone and let me do my job. And we were successful in turning that plant around. So then, they asked me to go to another poor performing plant and do the same there. I became the company trouble solver. But he could have taken my keys that day and it would have been their loss….

It's probably the opposite what you are thinking. Probably to show support for his HC.
Now, I do expect a lot of changes in the off season. Still think Dabo needs to let Conn go this week as collateral damage, and then more changes right after the season is over.
