What's with the Vizz hate?

Based on the past couple days of comments, looks like it will be an unpopular opinion, but in the few series that Vizz was in yesterday, I thought he showed nice poise. He stood tall in the pocket, went through a couple progressions, and made confident throws. He even stood in and took a hit a couple of times. Very different presence compared to Cade.
Now, I know that he wasn't always accurate, but he wasn't with the 1's, and doesn't have the cadence/reps that a 1st stringer would to develop optimal timing with the receivers. But based on his on-field poise and mechanics, I saw no reason to be sour on him already. Not to say he'll be a star, but I didn't see anything to show that he'll be a wash-out either.

I think he came in as a highly touted qb, and that hasn’t translated to college. I honestly don’t think anyone hates him though. Seems like a great guy

Pearman has great moves and feet. Guess since he was not highly recruited he will never be the one. Unless a QB has a 5 star by his name our coaches thinks he can’t play QB at Clemson Last two not so great.

Clemson coaches never thought of Vizz as an immediate star at QB.
He’s the kind of player that has been developing steadily.
Think last year Louisville QB Tyler Shough, last year’s SYR QB (I forget his name), or this year’s SYR QB (Angeli). Or former Iowa State QB Brock Purdy (we played against him in the bowl game after 2021 season). None of these guys were stars, or anything close to it, before their final seasons.
Vizz may not get to that level, but we should remind ourselves that he has played sparingly in his first 2.5 seasons with us. There’s no use lamenting how our offense has been so consistently mediocre that Vizz has gotten far fewer live-action snaps thus far in his time at Clemson than any of us could have fathomed back when G.Riley became our OC and the top HS QB prospect in the nation was there as the straw to stir the drink.
I still like Vizz, and believe that he is better than most Tiger fans think he is. He’s just not ready yet as a true top tier QB.

I agree the tape is limited but just thinking about spring games and limited reps, I don’t see a very athletic QB. Kind of big and lumbering with a lively arm but not a lot of touch or accuracy and doesn’t look like much of a scrambler.
I simply can’t get the Hunter Johnson comparison out of my head.

Cullen Harper would be a best case scenario.

But I haven’t seen anything from Vizzina to suggest that he will be as good as Cullen.

Na, he had several scrambles last year where he was able to escape & make positive yards! Hes quicker than he looks!! He stands tall in the pocket & doesn't dance around like Cade. I think he can be a solid option for us next yr!

Either way, 3 pts in the 2nd half was just bad. He should've kept the starters in alil longer to keep the momentum going. Wait all year for the offense to do something and pulls them after a half, can't just assume it's fixed already.

Yes Dabo made another coaching blunder there , the starters needed more reps to finish game with confidence because UNC shut them down after the 1st quarter . As bad as they have been you would have thought he would have let them go a while longer but only Cole Turner got to keep playing to get his touches late in the game ? Why was he still playing while the other starters sat ?

He's a nice serviceable backup but we need an elite QB to be in the hunt for championships.

It's not about hate; it's more about my confidence in him being ready in 2026. In the past, you were forced to go with the next man up, regardless of whether he was ready. However, depending on a player to make significant progress during the offseason in this era of the transfer portal is quite risky.

We were not watching the same person. If he’s the starter at LSU we lose by 20.

It's not hate. It's lack of confidence in his play and his ability to be QB1 next season especially wirh game one being at LSU
