Coots keeping it classy as always
Mar 16, 2014, 12:12 AM
|
|
I've only been home on spring break for a day and I've already been reminded several times just how awful living anywhere within a 50 mile radius of cooterville is. I went to run errands today while wearing a Clemson shirt and it didn't take 5 minutes for a coot to yell insults and profanity at me in the middle of a store. People around me just stopped and stared in shock at this middle-aged man's behavior. The cashier in the next store couldn't wait to make a smart comment about my shirt and then make the comment as I signed a receipt that he was impressed that a Clemson student could actually sign their name. I demanded to speak to a manager, but he turned out to be a coot as well and could only offer the remark that if I don't want to be insulted then I "shouldn't dress like that in 'their territory'." They reach a new low every time I come home, and yet several that I know still insist on telling themselves that as a group they possess a level of class that is unattainable by anyone else.

I've had the typical Columbia convenience store cashier telling me "oh, you might not want to wear that around here" before. It's happened several times.
The best response is to give them an earnest stare with a straight face and say "I usually wear what the hell I want to, but thanks for you concern. Go Tigers."
Can't argue with that.

I will be as honest as I can be. I live in cooter town, and I wear my Clemson orange every day of my life here. A lot of you have actually seen my Clemson scheme Harley that I ride all over this dump town. And I rarely hear anyone attempt to disrespect me or my colors. In the 20 years I've been here, there has been a few times I guess. But I made ### sure they regretted it. Honestly, I don't get bothered here in cootlumbia.

Thank you....I also lived in Columbia and Irmo for years and I just couldn't have imagined anything remotely close to this happening. I see threads every day about "I ran into, I talked to, and a coot said" that are total BS. There is Clemson gear in every store there is Gamecock gear. No manager of ANY store would be that stupid. It wouldn't happen in Columbia nor would the opposite happen in Greenville or even Clemson for that matter....nice try...

From 1994 until 2008 . I had my Tiger theme mailbox destroyed twice , a yard flag cut into ribbons and numerous times was accosted by the Dirtpecker faithful while going about my business. Also , someone flexed all four corners of my trucks license plate ( paw version) and I am pretty sure it was because of its design. Having said that , we owned them in most everything the entire time I was living in the heart of darkness so it is likely there was more sensitivity during that span. I am friends with a few grads and genetal population Coots here in the lowcountry and they are decent respectful folks. I guess it goes by location , location and location . GO TIGERS

When I lived in Irmo I had my Gamecock mailbox knock down many times....so did my neighbor who just had his name on the box...and every other mail box on the street including a Clemson one. Just a kid thing dude....quit trying to make everything a Clemson/Gamecock thing. I would think Howard's rock would have taught the Clemson fan base a thing or two...then again...maybe not. I hoped it wasn't a Gamecock that did it and I was shocked it was a Tiger fan. You never know dude...you never know.

I had my mail box knocked of the pole the other night, and the only thing on the box was my house number. I'm betting just a plain ole thug that hates any mail box got mine.

We must flip the tables on them in every way. I mean they are classless and beating us. As hard as it is for tiger fans imo we must become more classless than them. Let's face it we now live in a classless society and if you are not attacking someone, someone will be attacking you. Just saying.

after my last 2 experiences in coot central, plus growing up in Newberry only 30min from garnet-ghetto & travelling to cootlumbia alot for shopping & entertainment, I've had to hear & put up with similar typical trashy shamecluck behavior. i'm sure this little story by the OP is legit, because i have no reason to think otherwise from my experiences...sounds spot on! of course they aren't all bad, but I'd have to go with the majority being sorry-@ss Spurrier-turd sniffers.
these stinkin' lamecocks have gotten worse & more emblazoned since winning their precious 5 in a row (best accomplishment ever in their history), so now is the time to really knock them off their high-horse & stomp them back deep in the dirt where even the most professional & seasoned dirtpecker can't scratch themselves back out of the mud!!!
GO TIGERS!
ANYTHING someone says a coot did, you can pretty much trust it's true...put NOTHING past them!!!! hate them all the better

surprised to know how many thousands of CU alumni and fans reside in the Midlands, proudly display their Paws and flags, and wear the Orange.
I've seen the colors on the streets, at public events, in stores, restaurants...everywhere. Most Clemson and Gamecock people live in a relatively peaceful co-existence, simply because many are friends, neighbors, co-workers, and/or have common interests in community-related activities. Admittedly, the two families who are my closest friends and neighbors are SC alumni and fans. Their kids were/are close friends with my son. My oldest grandson steadily dates a beautiful, classy SC grad.
On extremely rare occasions have I heard a "remark" or two about the rivalry, but they've been easy to brush aside without comment. That's because in all these years my friends and associates or people I've met through acquaintances have been ladies and gentlemen, who would be loath to make crass or rude comments.
Thus, if an incident, such as the one you describe, were to occur, I would simply quietly leave the premises and never return. Oft times saying nothing speaks greater volumes than engaging in a verbal slugfest, for it leaves the originator devoid of some victory in words he may have been seeking...and makes him the real loser!

I was looking for a new TV couple weeks ago. At one place either a Dish network or Direct TV Rep came up and told me he needed to get me out of the service that I have now. I told him that's ok I'm happy with what I have. He said "Well if I can't get you to change services, I'll get you to change from that Clemson shirt to a Gamecock one." I told him I do wear Gamecock gear when it's appropriate. He said "Ap- propriate?" I said " Oh you know when I need to clean out the sewer or the septic tank."

In the last few years when I wear something Clemson out I almost always get a "kidding" comment. Most are fairly good natured so I just smile and brush them off. I have a Clemson credit card and have had waiters sometimes say "I don't think I can take that card" to which I laugh and say "then I guess it won't work for the tip either" which shuts them off and gets a laugh. And if they were good I leave a really good tip to ensure they know that Tigers do keep it classy.

ya'll don't think this happened/will happen to us when Clemson is winning? it seems as if the majority of fans for both teams in the state didn't attend the school (nothing wrong with that), so what makes you think someone who chose to be a clemson fan is naturally classier than someone who choses to be a SC fan?

To see a manager and then he made fun of you points the fact that they won. You got butthurt and acted like a little girl. Smile and tell them to have a nice day. They are still newbies to this whole winning thing.

On my frequent travels

Through Columbia on my way home to Charleston from Georgia, I make it a point every time to wear my Clemson gear when I get off of 95 and cut through that god forsaken spit of land they call Columbia. One night I had a couple guys mention something to me as I was walking inside to get my ole lady a drink. I simply replied "y'all two can eat a fat d!ck"....they just sat there on the back of that guys out of date Ford Ranger with a shock look. It wouldn't be anything for me to beat the prison d!ck out guys like that. Wouldn't be the first time.

I was in Walmart (I know, I know) one morning and a prominent coot lawyer stopped me and pointed to some coot shirts hanging on a rack. He pointed them out and told me I could get one of those shirts and not have to wear that ugly Orange. I just looked at him and said "you know I could, but that shirt would serve the same purpose as the toilet paper in my shopping cart"

Yeah, i had some smart mouth coot inbred that was a Dick's cashier ring me up the other week when I was buying a Clemson shirt. He made a smart comment about the shirt and I made a smart comment back to him.Thought about escalating the issue to his manager, but realized the kid probaly already had his 4 year degree and this was the farthest he was going in life, didn't want to ruin it for him. These post 2009 gamehens are everywhere it seems

I live in greenville and get the derogatory comments ask the time. No big deal.
I visited usuc often my freshman year because one of my buddies dated a girl there. On 1 visit in February his car was keyed gimme headlight to tailight.
Since moving to greenville I've had sand put it my motorcycle had tank twice.
I can't day for sure if coots were responsible for these acts of vandalism, but I can say with absolute certainly that they were aholes.

Take note that one of the gamecocks was a grocery bagger and the others was a grocery store manager. Be proud of the degree you're getting because that's what happens when you don't get in Clemson.

i'd be hard-pressed not to believe her story honestly (long)

when i first moved back to the States from Germany in April '08, we were in transition to Clemson for my bride to be (later that month) to begin Clemson. we were looking for a house to move to in Clemson immediately when we got back from our visit to Ger. to gather some things still & then drive down through Italy to Sicily for the wedding & our vacation/honeymoon all rolled into one, but we were staying temporarily at my brother's wife's old house there in Irmo for about 3 months. yeah...newlyweds in Mom & Dads house for months wasn't happening even if it ain't in coot town! during that time I worked at the Wild Hare & Carolina Ale House since it was only very temporary & i didn't live in Clemson yet to get my career type job (forestry). naturally being where it was, both establishments (& the 3rd on Lady St.) where predominately COOT & they naturally gave me all kinds of jeers & joke about being a Clemson grad, since I never take off my ring & handing them drinks to kill their shamecluck pain with alcohol using that hand as often as possible, they all knew i was a Clemson man. still all the picking was usually & mostly in fun, which i can take it & let it roll off my back like rain no problem. sometimes it got a little too much & over the line of course, but it was my job to put up with bitching customers all the likes & coots & anyone in need of a drink. well the new Lady Street Carolina Ale House had it's grand opening & i was working there for my last few weeks before flying to Europe for the wedding & destroying my life for the next 5-6 years... i was serving this one table that week that started the typical Clemson-bashing when they noticed my ring, one was kidding & telling me to ignore his buddy that legit hated Clemson, blah blah...but the other guy was being a huge dickle & i couldn't quite tell if he was just busting my balls or being sincere. but he actually tells me "there goes your tip since you went to Clemson." naturally i gave them the best service i could to not give them any reason to jip me, but at one point while trying to simply get their order & move on since the house was always PACKED when they 1st opened, the #### proceeds to tell me how he thought Clemson & the whole area should be turned into a landfill & they should blow up the damm on Hartwell holding the water back, & such really hateful stuff...so i then asked him if he was serious & had he ever been there & so on. he eluded the answer & continued to trash everything Clemson & also shittalk me some as well. i just went on with my job after realizing he was a lost soul, coot through & through. it was doubtful he'd ever even been to see our beautiful school, campus & community here...but he'd probably spent plenty of time outside Willy-B at the fair grounds or stumbling around behind Bojangles on his knees. of course this one guy didn't have a USuCk ring on either, but i noticed the more reasonable guy did, so when i brought the bill for them to pay & asked how everything was & etc... the nicer coot did say it was good but they'd had to wait a little for the entree (because of the new place, staff, training during the opening, packed house, etc...), but that he was happy none the less. well, the coothead guy cranked up his chirp-hole again so i conveniently asked him if he'd ever attended or graduated S.Carolina & of course he didn't want to answer that & just ###### Clemson instead. since i had been to Clemson admissions alot through the previous weeks, i'd nabbed a bunch of orange Clemson pens from admissions & found it entertaining to use them at work for the customers behind enemy lines most folks found it funny as intended & laughed it off if they were clucks fans. I didn't wait for these guys remarks but he quickly saw it was an orange pen & said he wouldn't sign his receipt with a Clemson pen, so smiling, i haded him a normal blue bic pen & proceeded to wish them a nice evening & come back, yada yada..."try out our new upstairs open-air bar"...which they said they were. i thought it was done & went about my work, so when i came back to clean up the table & take the tip receipts I just about blew my cool! the nicer coot had definitely undertipped me, but that's so normal in restaurants it's almost expected, even when you do everything perfectly & give top service. But these guys were also pretty needy & the one a-hole actually impeded me from getting to other customers & serving them better because of his constantly flagging me down for this & that & whining. the very same guy had the audacity to sign the receipt & leave me a couple (2) pennies for HIS tip, after I'd done my job & really catered to them...with hopes they would have less reason to hold anything against me for my tip. that's when i decided they were my last new table & finished up with my others so that i could take his "tip" upstairs to the bar with me directly following my shift to give it back to him. and i was FUMING that someone could be such a totalasshole when everyone knows waiters work for & live off of tips, not $1.25/hr... plus they'd gotten great service & food, friendly passive conversation & smiles while trashing my team, & this is how classy they wanted to handle it???!!! needless to say, probably luckily for both them & me (my job), i didn't see them again. we flew out the next week later & never stayed in that house again either because we happily & luckily moved directly into our Clemson home following return from the wedding (funeral).
so, with that being said...& i have better things to do than make that up, but it seems to me a very typical shamecluck story & there are others i'm sure that top it! so for any of you having never had a bad coot experience, there's another one for ya! BELEIVE IT!!! this stuff happens more than some would like to admit or pay attention to. to all you lamecoots...SUCKIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
time to restore the balance of us winning.
sorry if typos, but not gonna proofread all that
