Shannon Faulkner played for the Citadel when they beat the Coots in the mid 90s.... That's why they hired Brad Scott to be their HC and even though he wasn't able to bring them to SEC dominance, he did win the Cooters their first bowl victory ever in the history of their program in 1995 in the Carquest Bowl vs WVU.
All seriousness though... I send the Coots a x mas card every year for Brad Scott. He's a great human being and I don't think we win two national championships unless he came here, helped lay the foundation with Tommy Bowden, bring in Sammy and CJ, help Dabo as he transitioned and got his legs under him. Outside of hiring Dabo, I think Brad Scott is the most important hire we made at Clemson in regards to our recent success.

I don’t take any team for granted. I still remember that 1976 game when the Citadel rolled into Death Valley and we barely escaped with a 10-7 victory.

The Citadel 10-7. Their receivers had a bigger case of stone hands than Richard Caster used to for the JETS.
FSU, in Tallahassee 15-12.

Haha. I remember. It was a 50% improvement over 1975 when we went 2-9. I think we were 3-6-2 in 1976.
I went to every one of those miserable home games those two years, and a few away games, too. I think that’s why some of us older folks don’t lose our hair over these games quite as much. Sure, I want us to be title contenders, but it doesn’t rule my life.

We suck and will always suck in the future. One idiot destroyed the program after Ayers retired and then they hired a second loser to finish running the Terriers into the ground. If we ever have a winning season again, I would be shocked. Citadel drug us around our own yard today. It does not get any worse than that. At least we get a check.
