“Brad continues to be a great leader and ambassador for our men’s basketball program. In addition to being our all-time winningest coach and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in one of the most challenging years in recent memory, he continues to maintain a focus on academic performance. Brad has been instrumental to our fundraising success in recent improvements, and his leadership, character and performance are key to our program going forward.” - Drad
CBB’s comments are also somewhat concerning. “I want to thank Dan Radakovich, President Jim Clements and the Board of Trustees for continuing to support my leadership of our Clemson basketball program”.
These comments were after the generous extension given by Drad to CBB in 2021.
It is clear the two men think very highly of one another, and given the fact that Drad is actively looking for a new head basketball coach at Miami, this is reason for concern. It’s my hope that CBB releases a statement reassuring the Clemson administration, and fan base, that he is not taking the Miami job and is staying at Clemson, due in no small part to all the support we have given him over the years. The longer we go without these assurances, the more concerned I think his fans at Clemson are going to get.

I wouldn't expect an athletic director and basketball coach from the same college to talk about each other in a disrespectful manner, I wouldn't read that much into it.
And if you're Brad Brownell, what does Miami have to offer (other than a slight pay bump) that Clemson doesn't? Brad's salary is up to 3.5 million this year, and set to increase further in future years. Paying him 5+ million would put Brad into the top 10 nationally in coach salary, which I don't foresee happening. Plus you would have to live in Miami, and you would have much longer travel tiems to play road games.
Transfer players are nothing new in the college game, and you can field solid teams without hitting on the top of the top recruits year to year.
All that to say, I think it's a non-issue.

CBB has busted his tail to get Clemson's program to where it is today and it's pretty obvious - looking at portal additions and recruiting - that kids are starting to notice. The timing in the league couldn't be better as coaching changes at the blue bloods have made those programs slightly more vulnerable than they have been in years.
CBB also LIKES Clemson. He's a midwestern guy who fits in well here. Miami? I doubt that's appealing to him. Larranaga was a New York guy, so Miami wasn't a huge shift for him.
Unless Miami throws a ton of money at him and gives him a massive NIL budget, I think CBB doesn't even consider this move. It's a rebuilding project and managing kids with the distractions of Miami around them now that they all have money to spend? No thanks.
I think we have CBB as long as the school and the coach agree to him being here.

The shove is probably why he only got a 3 year extension after leading Clemson basketball to unprecedented success. Unfortunately, by offering such a small extension DRad may now hold all the leverage in future negotiations with Brownell. Brownell now has tangible evidence that he is rewarded far better for his efforts by DRad than Neff.
