Comparing Clemson RB rooms / recruiting with OST, AL, UGA

There has been a lot of discussion about RB rooms and recruiting, so I decided to compare Clemson with other football powers with our current status. I used Rivals for all ratings.
I will not add any opinion here but just post for discussion. I will say after looking at the whole picture and comparing these teams, I did come away with a slightly different perspective.
Have fun.
Alabama Gibbs, Jahmyr JR – Top RB transfer McClellan, Jase JR – 4* Williams, Roydell JR - 4* Sanders, Trey RS JR - 5* Miller, Jamarion FR – 4* (2022 recruit) Justice Hayes – 4*(2023 commit #1 rated RB) Richard Young – 4*(2023 commit #2 rated RB)
Ohio State Williams, Miyan RS SO - 3* Henderson, TreVeyon RS FR – 4* Pryor, Evan RS FR – 4*(2022 recruit) Mark Fletcher - 4* (2023 commit #9 rated RB)
Georgia McIntosh, Kenny SR – 4* Milton, Kendall JR – 5* Edwards, Daijun JR – 4* Robinson, Branson – high 4* (2022 commit #1 rated RB) - Paul, Andrew FR – 3* (took last minute from Clemson with late offer) No 2023 RB commitments
Clemson Pace, Kobe JR – 4* Shipley, Will SO – 4* (#1 AP Back) Mafah, Phil SO – 4* Keith Adams Jr. – 3* (2022 recruit) No 2023 commitments

I know that “bama is bama” but how do they keep that many highly rated RB’s at the same time?
I’m sure if we had 5 RB’s that were 4-5 stars, 3 would transfer out for lack of carries…

Thats the big question I had

How is Alabama able to stockpile so many RB and even get transfers?
Saban likes having a huge amount of RB, but how does he keep them all happy?
To a lesser extent, who does UGA do it?

Then I would have to ask, who on Bama’s team has been drafted while sitting on the bench or had few carries? Does that actually happen or is it another myth?

Back-ups who lacked carries did not get drafted, and if so, why didn't they hit the portal?

Clemson was the only P5 offer for Adams. I would also note he got his 3rd star after his commitment to Clemson known as the "bump" based on where he committed.

Alabama landed Emmanuel Hendersen, the #2 overall RB, in the 2022 class as well.
So, let’s keep this in mind. Bama signed the #2 and #6 RB last year. They currently have the #1 and #2 RB this year. And they just demonstrated their willingness to bring in the best RBs from the transfer portal.
But every single RB that Clemson recruits is somehow afraid of competing against our RBs. Makes total sense, doesn’t it?

Obviously to take up this argument is a fool's errand.

For the life of me, I just can't figure out how you can make that argument with a straight face.
Why can't you think that Clemson recruits well but just not with the RBs lately, like they are somehow mutually exclusive events?

Every recent hire has managed to recruit well, except for Spiller. Kyle Richardson has landed two of our highest rated TE recruits in the last decade. Thomas Austin has landed three big time offensive linemen, and the highest rated IOL in Dabo’s tenure. Nick Eason, we all know that he’s been amazing. Wes Goodwin has landed 2 four star LBs.
But Spiller has literally missed on everyone. Back to back classes of poor RB recruiting is unacceptable. Here’s what we have to hope for at this point.
1. Keith Adams Jr, or the RB they manage to sign this year, are incredibly underrated.
2. The walk-on from Union College, Dominque Thomas, is secretly a diamond in the rough.
One of those two things could be true. But I’d rather have landed four star RBs so that we wouldn’t have to rely on low level RB recruits and walk-ons being underrated.

with the exception of Saban. I would be concerned about my player development and coaching philosophy if I were them. Or they can celebrate recruiting championships, again.
Also, Shipley was a composite 5*.

.9839 score
Oddly, you have Branson Robinson ranked higher, a "high 4 star", while listing Shipley as just a 4 star...
https://247sports.com/Player/Branson-Robinson-46099865/
but Robinson's score was only .9729
I'm beginning to think you are biased against Clemson.

Here we go.
FM here to justify anything and everything.
We are talking about RB recruiting in 2022 and 2023, not pre-2018.

You continue to say that we "win Mattie's" so our lack of RB is justified compared to other programs. Then you say that you didn't specifically utter the words, great defense.

“He thinks it's a winning strategy.”
I’ve never said that. I’ve never insinuated that. You made that up.
We don’t desperately need a RB this year. It would be nice, but the coaches aren’t going to force something, especially when it’s not critical. Next year is different. But making up stuff, repeatedly, does not lend itself to credibility. That’s all. So you can run around crying about “numbers”, and blaming it on CJ, or Dabo, or whatever/whoever else you want, but do you really think Dabo has all of a sudden forgotten how to recruit RBs? Or that he would stand by and let another coach flounder in recruiting if it was hurting the team? Get real.

Kinda feel for cj he's not a extremely outgoing guy or a dynamic personality like eason. Hopefully we can put some good results on the field this year for him to sell on the trail.

It’s clear that the “stacked room” argument doesn’t hold water. We have to improve at recruiting this position.

Bama's got a bunch of dudes that won't see the field this year and will be transfer fodder later. I will say, though, Jahmyr Gibbs with their OL is a Heisman candidate. That guy is about as dynamic back as you'll see. OSU-their room looks kinds thin, but there scheme doesn't abuse backs too much.
GA-Every RB they recruit is the next Herschel, so who really knows. Lately, their backs have been solid workhorse guys, so I'd atleast expect the same. If they have someone emerge though, they tend to overfeed him.
I just hope we stay healthy in the backfield this year. All of them contribute and I'm not sure we could go pass happy in scheme to take the heat of the running game if we needed to. I'm sure Street has got some quick out/play in space kinda themes in the playbook that utilize perimeter speed if such a scenario were to occur, tho. It's a fundamental part of our scheme anyway.
Our word for the season is healthy...as in stay it.

I dont know what recruiting service you used, but Henderson was a 247 5 star, on3 5 star, espn 5 star, and 247 composite 5 star. The only service to rank him a 4 star was Rivals. Also, Pryor came in the same year as Henderson. Hayden is a 2022 commit. I am not a fan of Bama getting great running backs year after year after year. Then bringing in studs via the portal. OSU went hard after Gibbs at the end of the 2020 cycle, but he chose GT.

Thank you for compiling this. I am looking at what each school has to put on the field for the 2022 season. Clemson will be able to run the ball as well as the other three schools. I can understand Bama landing top 2023 running backs because they will potential lose four after this season. I am surprised that UGA only has one 2023 commit. Clemson may need to portal shop for 2023. Spiller is on the clock for 2024. If he cannot land some top recruits, then he will need to go.
