Agreed.. "bloom where you're planted". Terry Don planted Dabo, Dabo didn't plant Clemson.

That is one dumb post. Kneejerk emotional ranting.
Clemson football had not done anything of substance in 20+ years prior to Dabo.
Clemson fans are like all the other southern schools. Bunch of ego but unrealistic perception of their program's stature.
Dabo needs to do something and do it quickly. But he has earned right to correct this. Sad to say the fix may not happen this season.
Because the fix needs to be with... Playcalling and offensive execution Defensive execution WR development and coaching OL execution
And getting Clemson tougher.
Right now Clemson is chasing to even get into the ROY bus. So perhaps Clemson can find some grit again.

That Clemson's program was nothing before Dabo... I even heard Eric McClain dogging us on the Huddle today basically saying we had one title ever and that's all we ever did ....
Did we play for a title 20+ yrs before Dabo... No, we didn't .. but we did have a few ACC titles, many NFL players, a handful of bowl games and top 25 seasons.
We've been around a long time and Dabo elevated the program for sure, to heights we've never been at, but Clemson isn't some poor ### no name that just showed up on the radar a decade ago.... Maybe to you they did, but to those of us who have been around for a bit

Your insane. Dabo made Clemson what it is. Very few bright spots before Dabo came along.

And after we ran Ford off, not much until Dabo got here. I wanted Hatfield, West and Bowden to succeed. But except for Hatfields 1 ACC championship they didn't. Granted Hatfield had to clean up some issues first, so he probably was the right guy at the time looking back. I probably was one of the Howard built it, Ford filled it and Hatfield killed itpeople back in the day though. West and Bowden didn't have those same obstacles to overcome so we just weren't very good for multiple reasons.
I wish for Dabo to succeed again. Serious changes need to be made that he will have to acknowledge. But I do believe we are much better off now than I felt in the early 90's. Time will tell. Go Tigers!

Love your posts, but when I was at Clemson, we lost 2 games in 3 years. Rarely lost from 1980-1990. Ford years were strong. But agree with you, that Dabo 2018 and 2016 teams were better but not tougher.

You can probably count the teams with those moments on one hand.
Like I said above, Dabo has put us in an elite category but we shouldn't have to trash/defend our own program to each other. The worst coach we have had in basically the past 50 yrs is Tommy West and he had a winning record here..... How many programs can say that? And we've only had maybe 3 losing seasons since Charley Pell was coach.
Alot of winning before Dabo ever showed up

The very modern, elite level of Clemson we have seen Dabo definitely built. The team is not playing well now, but if he is gotten rid of and we don’t ever compete for another national championship or top 10 ranking again don’t then go blaming, "see it’s actually still Dabo’s fault, he made it so we just can’t get back to where we once were". Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Dabo did bring us a longer sustained period of huge success. He did "make" Clemson in the sense of it's recent reputation.
BUT, I really resent how the rhetoric of Dabo and many of his defenders in the media make it sound like we weren't on the map of college football at all until him, which is BS. Crap, we had an undefeated national title season and lots of ACC titles before he came. It's not like we had no tradition of success. It just wasn't recent when he came.

The modern, powerhouse of Clemson is completely intertwined with Dabo in the minds of all modern college football. We were on the map, but no where near where Dabo took us.

No one denies that. The issue is that the way everyone talks just sloppily overshadows and ignores the fact that he took a school with a good, solid pedigree and some greatness, and elevated it to a different level. It had been a while, but the programs heister want nothing.
