Nothing like home attendance to demonstrate fan interest in the program. A few highlights: 1) Range is from low of 6781 to high of 11,107, 2) Six seasons over 9000 per game between 1979-2020 (4 of 6 due to Barnes era), 3) Top attendance by far in Barnes' last year, 4) Top Purnell attendance also in his last year.

Was at Clemson from 1977-1981 Students filled our seats and in aisle. Especially ACC games. Most games were sold out as far as I knew. (Ones where students were gone might have reduced number. Or a few crummy games to start season.)
Would be interesting to see how many students go for each of those years. Students have more than doubled since then. I think it was about 12k then and 25k now.

I matriculated in Aug., 1973, and the student body at the time was 9K(+). Just to say off topic, we had 115 in my freshman class (Architecture) with 7 girls... we graduated 55 students, including all 7 girls. On topic, I remember Skip Wise and Tree Rollins... awesome games.
Go Tigers!!!

Note that only 2 of Brownell’s 10 seasons are better than Shyatt’s average. Should tell anyone all they need to know about the Brownell era.

Tells me. I was in that late 70's early 80's era too and it'd get rocking loud... Tons of support. We went to everything. Football doing so good has zero to do with it. You have an exciting product that's nationally ranked, contends year end and year out, you won't find any tickets. Students would be 10 deep camping.
Look for FB attendance to go down too. Survey of gen z population and only 53% said they care about or follow any sports. Less than that said they'd ever go to a game. FYI

You should go ahead and forward these figures to D-Rad. I heard the attendance numbers this year were the worst of all time!

I agree to a point that attendance is related to interest in the basketball program, but you have to consider other factors as well. Brad Brownell has had to compete with the Covid virus, an Elite Football program. Some may not be attending basketball games now because of the additional cost to attend football games, or the Covid virus, basketball tickets cost more, women’s softball is new, politics, among other factors.
I don’t think you can put it all on Brad B. I know one or two seasons they had to play in Greenville. Coaches Barnes, Ellis and Bill Foster did not have deal with social media. IMO Brad Brownell has had to deal with more social media than any other Head BB coach.
Just another opinion on Coach Brownell.

I remember students camping out during the Barnes years, at least for all of the ACC games it seemed.
Imagine that...
