I still maintain that both programs should leave for the B10 instead of the SEC.
The B10 has passed the SEC now. So let that conference bring in UNC and UVA instead.
Clemson and FSU should head to the better conference. Maybe even bring NC State and Louisville as well.
The rest of the ACC can join the B12.

I am fine with either conference, but prefer SEC due to natural rivalries. I believe SEC is still best conference top to bottom, but I think B1G probably has more money to use for NIL that will help them moving forward.

We'll see if Michigan beats Oklahoma this weekend.
Ohio State, IMO, is clearly the best team. Penn State and Oregon are both top 10 teams.
Illinois, Michigan and Indiana are top 25.
If USC and Nebraska get their act together then watch out. That conference will be insane.

Would Clemson fans and more importantly, TNet peeps, be okay with all of the recruits from Ohio coming to town with their families and puttin’ sugar in their grits?

Neither the SEC nor the B1G have offered nor are they going to offer anytime soon. Certainly not the B1G. They are still figuring out the UCLA and USC addition PLUS Uwash and Oregon are in on the cheap and making less than Clemson is.

But hypothetically, I'd rather go to the B10.

I'm right there with you. Imo, it would be the better conference and I would be much happier with the academic side too.
I just think purely geographic and rivalry aspects would win out.

Nobody want to listen to this but we will not get an invite to join the Big. They have a practice of only inviting AAU schools to join the Big. Every school they have right now was an AAU member when they joined. I don't think that is going to change. Clemson is not an AAU member.

The wheels are in the works at Cu to obtain AAU status. I think the BIG would see that and that would not be an issued IF BIG decided to expand again

President Clements has been working on AAU status for almost 3 years now ... it will happen.
HOWEVER, as a fan, much rather go to SEC schools/towns than the big 10, Rutgers?, Northwestern or Wisconsin in the winter (and by winter I mean November)? ... Michigan State ... Indiana (for basketball) ... Purdue? Had enough of Maryland when they were in the ACC (crappy fans). Even the SHi!!y SEC trips aren't that bad -- Vandy-Nashville ... I'll spot you Arkansas and Missouri and maybe Miss St.... Once to Ohio St., USC, Mich., Penn St. okay ... but put those up against UF, Bama, Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Ole Miss, KY, UGA --- no contest

I do agree there. I think almost no one from Clemson wants to travel to the BIG schools for games. For us fans the SEC is an obvious fit. Going to SEC schools for games is like going to a cousins house...except in the case of SC where it is a cousin married to one of your other cousins who also happens to his 14 year old sister.

There is also that little thing about AAU and that is that you also have to be invited to join you don't apply.

Will AAU status even matter in 5-10 years? For superleagues, I'd say no. I imagine whatever happens with the SEC/B1G invite, it's going to be a formal invitation to a super league where academics are going to be optional and not a requirement.

AAU or not, the B1G can't even pay Uwash or Oregon full shares, they are making less than Clemson. Even if the B1G offered why would Clemson go to the B1G for less money.

Can’t pay? The practice has always been to bring in schools at partial shares. Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland. This is because being in the B1G gets you ownership in the B1G network. It was the first conference network and cost a lot to get running. The B1G gave USC and UCLA full shares to get into LA/California. I would assume partial shares for the first 5 or so years would be the norm going forward

If we have to change conferences, we should not consider any conference but the SEC. Not many people around here care about the Big and no, they have not surpassed the SEC.

All we need is an invitation but I haven’t seen much evidence of interest on their part up to now.
