This same performance, against the same level of competition...but in a different conference, would guarantee the Heisman for a player on a few select teams.

He would’ve been a killer recruiter with that trophy he deserves attached to his resume.
Kids now don’t know who he was but that Heisman would’ve helped him even more
Super nice guy and enjoyed the multiple times I interacted with him. I hope we have great success with him because he is a Clemson man

The award is given by ESPN (basically). Therein lies the problem, ESecPN loves them some SECShe.

That, and the tendency of voters to decide based on who had the best September.
Oh, and also the award being handed out prior to post season conclusion.
It’s a mess.

Exactly. They should wait until AFTER all the games.

After he willed us to a national championship and played one of the most remarkable championship games this side of Vince Young, there is ZERO question that Deshaun Watson should have gotten the award ahead of Lame Are Jackson. If you recall, Lame Are had an absolutely terrible bowl game. Sacked like 5-10 times, and he was barely even trying.
There was no question who should have won the Heisman that year. Potentially 2015 as well, when DW almost willed us to a win on that national championship too.

Never turned off the jets, never looked back. This is what I hope he can teach and ingrain into our backs as RB Coach. Too many kids worried about looking back and slowing down at the goal line. Spiller didnt even hit 5th gear until he had already broken loose beyond the point of being caught, yet he still kept the gas pedal to the metal.
That is a big reason why he is my all time favorite Clemson Football player

CJ also had world class speed. We haven’t seen speed like him and Jacoby since. He didn’t even have to try and he was gone.
Travis was fast but not CJ fast. ETN would get caught from time to time but not often. He would also break trough a hole and hit that next gear.

A lot of times you don’t really have a good idea of how special a player was until after they have moved on and you look back at videos of their best plays over several years. Spiller was a highlight in the making on almost every play!
He was a truly amazing player for us and a terrifying nightmare for DC everywhere.
Thanks for posting.

James Davis is a big favorite of mine. And he helped to recruit Spiller. He doesn't get the attention he deserves

Were licking their chops and shut down Thunder and Lightning the following week. Our offensive coordinator should have worked on our passing game week prior to Blacksburg visit.

And then the RBs turned into the most productive part of our offense?
That was funny when the chicken little fans decided we were going to suck with CJ leading our boys. That was really funny.

They didn't wanna invite him to NYC for the Heisman ceremony his SR year because they knew his highlights would put the others to shame (or at least that's what I like to joke).

Sneak peek at a younger Dabo at the end as well. Man time flies by. Still feels like it was yesterday watching this game.
